Kenrick Block In 1857, two company men plot a road for a new sawmill in the treacherous ancient forests of New Caledonia (now known as British Columbia). Cineworks is proud to announce our selection for Telefilm's Talent to Watch 2026 program in the Main Component stream: filmmaking team Asher Penn and Nathan Drillot for their film: 𝘊𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯. 𝘊𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 is the story of Oscar, a 35-year-old Canadian in emotional freefall, that gives up his sick cat and tries to rebuild his life through sobriety, dead-end work, and a fledgling filmmaking partnership that takes him to Los Angeles. There, he drifts through unstable creative circles and escalating personal chaos, making a series of impulsive decisions that steadily undermine his stability and relationships. Across four hands-on sessions, you’ll learn to shoot on a classic Bolex 16 camera, load film, meter light, and even process your footage in the Analog Lab—all while working in small collaborative teams.
