As far as vintage glass goes, these just may be the top of our wish list, which is why we are super excited to share this absolutely pristine set of Bausch & Lomb SUPER BALTARS.    Introduced in the 1960’s, Super Baltars were made to cover Super 35 and Academy, and  were used on iconic films such as the Birds, Godfather I & II.  More recently they have been used on films including, Margot at the Wedding and the Witch.  Known for their dream like renderings, creamy bokeh, uniquely vintage artifacts & flares, they they are just stunning. Our set, which was rehoused by TLS, features a buttery smooth cam focus drive, universal 110mm OD and matching gears.  This set is truly special and we couldn’t be more excited to see them get to to work! The Ancient Optics Phēnix is a parfocal compact lightweight cinema zoom lens rehoused from the original Tokina 28-70mm AT-X stills lens produced in the early ‘90s.   Its zoom range is perfect on FF sensors, and impressive for the size and weight.  Ancient Optics and Iron Glass combined efforts to rehouse this beautiful (and extremely complex)lens, retaining its beauty while upgrading it to become a proper cinema tool. The result is a sharp lens with attractive fall off at the edges, textured bokeh and great flares. It features a new 15 blade iris design, 1.9” minimum focus, 300degree focus gears, 100mm front diameter and PL mount.   Phēnix is a very versatile lens that performs superbly on it’s own and also pairs nicely with a range of vintage glass including Canon FD, Konika Hexanon, Nikkor AI-s, Minolta Rokkor and Leica-R. #Phenix #AncientOptics #ironglass #vintagelens #vintageoptics #vintage  #vintagezoom #zoomlens #cinematography #cinemaglass #fullframe  #lensrental #camerarental @ancientoptics @ironglassadapters @vintagelensesforvideo Available to rent through @talamas

Excited to welcome another amazing set of vintage glass – Asahi Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumars - Now available to rent at Talamas Super Takumars have become a cult classic for still photographers, and now thanks to the new MK V rehousing from G.L. Optics, our PL mount set is ready for film production. All focals covers open-gate full frame sensors, features an new 16blade iris, have been reworked for better close focus performance, and have a uniform 100mm fronts. From the 1970’s, they are well matched, custom designed, and provide what’s described as a “painterly rendition with dream-like characteristics across the board”. Fancy, right? FOCALS: 24mm T3.6 CF 9" • 28mm T3.6 CF 11" • 35mm T2.1 CF 7.5" (macro) • 50mm T1.5 CF 11" • 85mm T1.9 CF 1’8 • 105mm T2.9 CF 2’6 • 135mm T2.6 CF 3’9 Here’s a bit of history: The Asahi Optical Company, one of the oldest optics companies in Japan. Much like Zeiss, Ashai got their start with eyeglass optics. In 1919 they entered the world of still photography and Asahi Pentax was created. Their line of lenses were named “Takumar” after the founder’s brother, Takuma Kajiwara. In 1971, Asahi revolutionized lens technology with their 7-layer Super Multi Coated (SMC) process, which reduced lens flare, enhanced color fidelity, and created a gentle contrast that artists adore. Zeiss later acquired the rights to implement Asahi’s SMC design on their own lenses, forever marked as Zeiss “T*“. Pentax has since been sold off to Hoya Filters, and then to Ricoh, but we’re happy to have this set of vintage lenses from the golden era of their lens efforts. #talamas #pentax #asahi #asahipentax #vintagelens #vintageoptics #vintage #bokeh #lensflare #cinematography #opengate #fullframe #Vraptor #ArriLF #SonyVenice #lensrental #camerarental #cinemaoptics #cine

Seems that we’re liking things wide these days.   While not vintage, this rectilinear 10mm ultra wide from Laowa has been rehoused for cinema use by GL Optics, and ticks the “specialty” box for sure.  As one of the lightest wides out there, it is truly distortion free and worth your consideration if looking for a clean, modern ultra-wide. SPECS:     •    T3.1     •    4-inch minimum focus.     •    170° focus throw     •     95mm front diameter     •     edge to edge sharpness across a 130.4° viewing angle     •    15 blade iris     •    Covers FF (VV image Circle)     •    1.4 pounds     •    LPL mount   *** works on native LPL cameras and with adapters as well. #talamas #laowa #ultrawide #fullframe #lpl #lplmount  #rectiliniar #wideangle #wideanglelens #specialtylens  #cinemarentals #Bostoncinema  #bostonfilm #rehousedlenses   @talamas @gl_optics @laowa.cine @avi_cohen
