Most of you follow me for music industry content so I have a concert story to tell you. Part of my Mother's Day gift was from my daughter who watched Dan so I could go see Cultist Convictions and Demon Hunter at the Masquerade. To my delight they were playing in Hell which is a much smaller room than Heaven where they normally play. The ADA section is just behind the curtain backstage which is yummy. That way I can see them before they go on stage. Anyway. The walker I was sitting on was practically in the guitar tech's lap so I had a front row seat to the action. (see pics) I was right next to Ryan's microphone stand and yes, I did touch the mic stand. Cultist was up first with some nasty breakdowns and high energy set. Would highly recommend them. The drummer Tyler Ontiveros was so kind to give me one of his Vader Power 5B sticks for my collection for which I was most grateful. I already had one or two from Zach Schwochow and Yogi Watts so it completed a goal. Direct support, Convictions was next and of course they never disappoint and somehow get better each time I see them. They played several of my favorites like, Hurricane. I got to to talk with them a bit before and after the show. Such sweet friends and stellar musicians. Demon Hunter, of course, was the headliner and again I have never been disappointed at the skill and way they are worshipful and entertaining at the same time. Boo hooed at a couple of songs that touched a chord. My Yogi came over to give me a hug before they went on stage and told the guitar tech to take care of me. He gave me one of Jonny's picks and the set list at the end. I didn't take lots of pictures because I was on the side and because Tyler Byars Photography was there and would make my pics look like they were from a flip phone. I did meet Ryan Downey DH's manager...finally, which was nice because I had spoken to him by email multiple times on behalf of Loud and Proud Festival. Oh, and one more thing. The picture does not do justice to the size of Jeremiah's guitar in that rack. Holy cow it's huge! But looks like a normal guitar when he plays it. Finally I met up with some Facebook friends and met some new ones.
