*April 29 is International Dance Day!* CID The International Dance Council in partnership with the Delegation of Senegal with H.E M.Faye , UNESCO 2005 convention with M. Tiendrebeogo screened Germaine Acogny: The Essence of Dance, a documentary about the woman the whole world simply calls “Mama Germaine.” The event was organised by Head of projects M. MAO Qiang @mao_mmparis and Head of Communications Mrs Margarita Séguy @very_mseguy . Born in Benin, raised in Senegal, trained in Europe… Germaine Acogny chose to return. A return to the land, to the body, to her roots. Her technique creates a dialogue between traditional West African dances and European influences—not to merge them, but to affirm them. On the edge of the Atlantic, in the village of Toubab Dialaw, she founded the École des Sables: a place where one comes to unlearn certainties and rediscover a connection to the ground, to breath, to others. “If you don’t know where you’re going, look at where you come from.” Dance is not an abstract heritage. [Le saviez-vous ? #2 — Spécial Journée internationale de la danse] Chaque 29 avril, le monde célèbre la Journée internationale de la danse en hommage à Jean-Georges Noverre, figure majeure du ballet moderne. 🔥 Son idée ? Being part of Unesco 43rd General Conference in Samarkand, Uz was an amazing experience for CID and me as its representative. First time in 40 years that it took place outside Unesco headquarters. It gathered all Member States, it determines the policies and the main lines of work. It sets up programmes and Unesco budget . It elected the members of the Executive Board and appointed the new Director General M.Khaled El Enany. Discuss the ethics with AI and the new technologies among other topics.
