Most of you know, my brother Orlando de la Paz lost his beloved partner of 16 years, Paul Manganiello, last month. To say it was devastating would not even begin to describe how we all felt about the suddenness and cruelty of losing someone with such a big heart and such a huge spirit. He was the gentlest of huggers, the biggest cheerleader, especially for his nephews and nieces, and one of the most generous and giving people I knew. He was enmeshed in our lives; he was us. A hard worker, never asking for help for anything, but always always ready to lend a hand whenever he could. He was the last of the good ol’ guys whose integrity was steadfast and whose sarcasm was unrivaled.
I wanted to start this fund for my Kuya, who is heartbroken but holds fast to the wonderful memories he had with Paul. I want to ease some of his worries as he goes through the quagmire that is the legal system. I just want to help in some way; to assuage the pain, the heartache, the survivor’s guilt.
I started a new job this month and it would’ve been my brother-in-love Paul who would’ve clapped the loudest. Because that’s the kind of man he was.
@littlemissbize and I needed a dance break as it’s been a rough coupla weeks. Thankful for @heybenallen and @exit33dance for giving us the energy and space to just let go!
