Every now and then a piece of media comes along that punches you in the gut… and this one hit me where it hurts. All six episodes went by like a whirlwind which is why I’m still kinda stunned to announce I play AZUMA NAOKI in the EN dub of #TakopisOriginalSin~🩵🥞!! And my gods, I really hope I did him justice for you all… Being part of this project means more to me than I can even convey, and folk who’ve been with me through some of my mental health struggles know why. Enjoy a lot of real tears, including all of those from @readykafka you can’t *quite* hear from the control room… seriously, give that man a medal and a Liquid IV, he earned it. And the love @mattsgreenbaum put into writing the EN script was endless. Appreciate @victor_inthemixx putting up with me for six straight weeks, you’re the bomb, dude!! And to my tagged co-cast, thank you so much for understanding the gravity of this story and bringing everything you had into the booth — I haven’t had it in me this weekend to sit down and watch it yet, but I honestly can’t wait to hear what you all did. This is one of the most tragic yet stunningly animated things I’ve ever worked on. I’m so thrilled it’s out. ⚠️ BEFORE WATCHING ⚠️ if you haven’t checked out the content warnings for this one and are someone (like me!) who can be sensitive to certain topics, I highly recommend you do so. If you’re extremely sensitive and aren’t concerned about the odd spoiler, you may even want to read a review or check the Reddit. I took time between episodes when I watched this one, and wasn’t emotionally prepared for how different something as simple as walking my dog would be in the midst of it; there were several times I burst into tears. If you can, watch with a loved one — even remotely. Make a nice space for yourself with some of your creature comforts, and have aftercare prepared. There’s something beautiful in facing our own ugliness through the lens of media, but it’s not easy. Especially today. I have included a spoiler below, cuz it’s a common trigger, and this got me through the series. Skip if you want to avoid. . . . . (The kids AND the dog are all alive at the end.)

... we did it, Beandits. 💥☕️ A chaotic 23-hour stint in NYC later, with delays putting us at our hotel < hour before the event kickoff... and @Gearbox and I are the PROUD AF recipients of the #GaymingAwards Best LGBTQ+ Character 2023!!!!! Lor's gender journey spans 3 games and 5 years so far, and every single second has been ethereal. He was my first proper acting role, and launched me on a career path and towards a dream I'd never planned on chasing. I'm honoured to have been invited into the creative intimacy of such a fantastic circle of writers and devs... and to help tell a story that has resounded with so many trans and enby fans around the globe. #TakopisOriginalSin, finally, has an English dub on @crunchyroll and I’m proud to be the voice and casting director for the project. At times gut-wrenching and devastating but always achingly beautiful and sincere, this show came out of nowhere last year and resonated deeply with its audience. I never want to be a prisoner of the moment or hyperbolic, but this work has profoundly affected me and is amongst the most meaningful pieces of art I’ve gotten to collaborate on. This cast and crew were incredible. @mattsgreenbaum did a bang-up job with the scripts and likely penned the best line I’ve ever had the pleasure to record. #RickeyWatkins really went out his way to elevate the mix and create an ethereal atmosphere for these characters to exist within. My guy at the wheel, @victor_inthemixx , kept me sane, made the sequences sharp, and lived almost every moment with me. Thanks, brother. @askforabigail as Takopi carries the heavy burden of a well-intentioned yet wholly clueless abstract. They rode that razor-thin line of silly and empathy with such grace. What a journey for their first titular character! @jillsvoice is the ultimate pro and gave so much weight to Marina’s hurt and misplaced vitriol; honestly, watching Jill work is incredible as she makes everything seem so effortless. My guy, @ciaranstrange , has been my king since I started directing and nothing has changed. His Naoki is such a tender soul…misguided, overburdened, overachieving, and just doing his earnest best. His pairing with @kieranreganva (Junya) as brothers is a thing of beauty and one of the rare moments of pure goodness among the families. I love them both so much. And last, but certainly not least, @emilyjfajardo —My peer, my compatriot, and my friend. We spent many late nights letting her Shizuka quietly melt into the microphone. Lost, so hurt, seeking acceptance, and a little manic, I knew from the moment I heard her whispered, tender audition that Emily *had* to be this character. I would go through those nights and tears a million times over for the performance she delivered. Bravo. cont. ➡️
