‘Cut The Tether’ is out now on all streaming platforms. Link in Bio. I hope you love this song as much as I do. Story time: Back in April of last year, I was trying to leave the studio after a long day of recording and just as I was about to leave it started chucking it down. I was gutted as I had so much gear on me and was quite far away from my car so I decided to wait out the rain to protect the equipment. The weather app said I had around 4 hours until the rain stopped so I sat down to write with the door open; fully immersed in natures’ babble. What came was a writing experience like no other. I do believe in the healing of cutting the tether to all things that bind you and this song merely states that for some, we just need to let go of things even if other people may have it and take it for granted. After writing for an hour or so I set up a few mics (a couple on the rain, vocals and guitar) and recorded this song in one take. I proceeded to mix and master the song on that day and I’ve had it in the bank ever since. I love this song so much and I can’t wait to share it with you live. Stream, share, like and follow. Give a listen if you’ve ever been let down by a parent and lemme know whatchu think. For those who’ve seen me play live recently, you’ve heard this song a lot and I’m so grateful for your thoughts and stories. I wrote this after being on a heavy Bruce Springsteen binge, and, as such, I take heavy influence from his productions. Big thank you to my band for making this song as good and full as it is. WHAT A NIGHT! Full of kind eyes and plenty of trauma… certainly on brand. What more could you ask for!? Perhaps the most stressful day I’ve had in years, our regular drummer pulling out at the last minute (due to double booking), our second drummer ending up in the hospital just before soundcheck (he’s okay and awake now), and our third drummer had 80 mins to learn new songs that aren’t even out on streaming… BRUH! On top of all this, I had not eaten for days due to personal circumstances… Truly, it was Sisyphean in nature, and it wasn’t meant to be. I’m forever grateful to my band for putting up with, and pushing through, the hardship thrown our way. I love these fellas to bits, and my promise to them is to not let up in following this dream in the hopes of providing in some way, somehow, for us all eventually. Whilst he was in direct competition that night, he had no qualms in helping out… no ego, all kindness. Eternally grateful and, whilst it burns that I didn’t get a fair shot, I’m glad that his band won. He and his band truly deserved it! Another big shout-out to @samjohnsonillustration for the beautiful background. He’s been helping out a ton and is such a great collaborator and hard worker. He really understands the mission, and most importantly, he genuinely cares. If you need any graphic design work, you’d best give him a message! Big shout-out to all technical members for putting up with some insane requests. You are the backbone of the industry, and you are adored. Finally, I want to thank YOU, the audience! Everyone who showed up, cheered, clapped, hollered, EVERYTHING: You mean the world to me.
