This Friday we hosted our 5th Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon, bringing together 250 mothers from District 35 @bam_brooklyn .
We celebrated with a beautiful meal from @katieosoulfood , live music and dancing from @eric_frazier_ and @jamelgainescreativeoutlet , and special remarks from @newyorkstateag Letitia James, all surrounded by stunning floral arrangements from @bloomagainbklyn
.
This year, we also proudly honored the nurses who are mothers — those who care for our families both at home and on the frontlines.
Thank you to our partners for helping us uplift the love and care that define our District 35 mothers.💐
Always lovely to start the day on a 🚲! Today, we got to ride with the Bergen Bike Bus, which starts in CM Ossé’s district, goes through mine, and ends in CM Restler’s. More safe bike infrastructure is coming to Brooklyn, thanks to @nycmayor and @nyc_dot !
I am calling for the immediate release of my colleague @cmchiosse and other protesters who were arrested this morning defending his constituent from wrongful eviction.
This morning, Mayor Mamdani announced that containerization is coming to all 5 boroughs! 🗑️
Last year, the City Council passed my bill, the Rat Act (Int. 1123), to expand containerization citywide and launch a pilot program in Comminity Board 2. Now the program will expand to Community Board 8. I look forward to working with the administration and DSNY to see this program fully realized accross the city and finally get those unsightly heaps of trash bags off our sidewalks once and for all!
Participatory Budgeting is an exciting opportunity for members of the community to have a say in how money is spent improving our community! Visit the link in our bio to learn more about this year’s projects and VOTE by Sunday 4/19! 💸🗳️
The @nyccouncil Committee on General Welfare is holding a hearing on Food Insecurity & Hunger this Monday April 13th at 10am. As Chair, I want to ensure we hear from people who are feeling the effects of federal cuts and high cost of living. Sign up to testify in person or via zoom at council.nyc.gov/testify.
State of the District: Count on Crystal
Across every generation in our district, we are creating space and delivering support in real, tangible ways. From food and school supplies to events for our older adults, this is what it looks like to show up for our community every day.
New York City Council Member Crystal Hudson joined us in Paris for our Global Leadership Institute!
She shared with us how these skills and practices will make her an even better public servant fighting for her constituents every day.
State of the District: Count on Crystal
After more than a decade of community advocacy, last year we made the Atlantic Avenue Mixed Use Plan a reality. AAMUP will bring thousands of new housing units and hundreds of millions of dollars in community investment to the district.
State of the District: Count on Crystal
Last year the council passed 8 bills in my Age in Place 2.0 legislative package. As our older population grows, I am fighting to ensure all New Yorkers can age in place with dignity in the city they call home.
State of the District: Count on Crystal
Last year we had some huge budget wins! As a member of the budget negotiating team I worked with my colleagues to ensure our city budget works to improve the lives of its residents 💰
