I’ve been getting asked how I got into dunking a lot lately. I started in 2022, and all these clips are from 2021-2023. I see now that the pieces had always been there, waiting for me to put them together 🧩
I taught myself how to do front flips on the ground/off of stuff, and @qdunks taught me how to backflip shortly after I started dunking. Combining that with the countless hours I’d spent with a basketball in my hand, I knew I’d found something special
I had the pleasure of doing my first show with @thedunkteam last week. It’s always such a great thing to inspire the youth, or just make their school day a little more fun!
A year ago on this day, I had my only serious injury from dunking. I was the weakest/sickest I’d been, and I shouldn’t have been on the court in the first place. I was able to close out the NBA season, but that was the start of a whole different set of problems I would have to deal with.
Today I’m at my strongest, mentally and physically, that I’ve been so far. In a year’s time, I’ve transformed my life. I’m shaping it how I want to live more and more each day through the discipline I’ve always had, plus the added benefit of listening to my inner spirit and trusting myself rather than questioning so much. I’m aligning with my purpose by investing in the right people and focusing on the positive (really not easy for me to do, but it’s important now more than ever)
