For twelve years,
@perschorn photographed more than 120 bands in his self-built photo booth. Four photos per musician, four photos per band.
One picture every five seconds, no second chances. The result was a series of spontaneous and interesting portraits of musicians and bands from the punk rock, hardcore, and alternative scenes. It all started with Rival Schools, whose singer Walter Schreifels asked Per if he had any ideas for promotional photos for their upcoming tour. And when Per showed up at the venue the next day with the prototype of the booth, it was Walter again who encouraged Per to continue the project with other bands. Per thought it was a good idea, so he photographed his way through his record collection. Over the course of a decade, the booth traveled to many venues, concerts, and festivals in Germany, Belgium, and the US. Bands such as Descendents, Bad Religion, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Sick of it all, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Gorilla Biscuits, Beatsteaks, and many others have sat in it.
And now, after twelve years, designer Fred Beier has created a “punk rock yearbook,” as Brian Baker called it, from all these photographs!
