Ever since he saw The Eiger up close as an 11-year-old, Bruce Miller wanted to be an alpinist. More than half a century later he fulfilled his dream of climbing its fearsome north face, with his friend Brian McMahon.

I had the privilege of talking with George Lowe - a hero of mine since the 1990s, when I first climbed in Alaska and the Canadian Rockies.
