“Overthink what could go right…” feels especially true in a kitchen like this. What began as a raw, gutted space became one of the most charming small‑scale projects we’ve ever worked on.
The pale lavender cabinetry, the subtle purple trim, the offset open shelving — every detail was chosen to bring warmth, whimsy, and a sense of belonging back into the room.
People often assume we only design large, grand kitchens, but projects like this are some of my favorites.
When a client isn’t afraid of color and the scale is more intimate, the personality of the home really shines through.
This kitchen fits its Victorian surroundings in SF beautifully, and it proves that thoughtful design doesn’t depend on size — it depends on intention, character, and the courage to create something you’ll love living with every day.

Color has the power to completely change the feeling of a room, and our NYC showroom at the @danddbuilding is the perfect example.
This matte black kitchen with polished nickel has a sleek, modern confidence to it — even the refrigerator looks chic! Step into the butler’s pantry and the mood shifts entirely: a jewel‑toned blue in high‑gloss paint with brass accents creates a rich, luxurious atmosphere. And then there’s the classic white display, which I always call “timeless” because you can truly live with it forever.
That’s the beauty of thoughtful kitchen design — the cabinetry, the finish, and the hardware all work together to shape the character of a space. A simple change in color can transform the entire room.

So many people assume we only design grand, sprawling kitchens — but some of my favorite projects are the smaller, more intimate ones.
This charming Victorian home in Noe Valley is a perfect example. The scale is modest, but the personality is extraordinary.
What makes this kitchen so special is how beautifully it fits its surroundings: furniture‑like cabinetry, open shelving that feels collected rather than built‑in, and a palette the client wasn’t afraid to embrace. The pale blush‑lavender finish and brass details bring a softness and whimsy you rarely see, and the freestanding island feels more like a crafted piece of furniture than a traditional block of cabinetry.
It’s warm, it’s characterful, and it proves that thoughtful design doesn’t depend on size — it depends on intention. A well‑designed small kitchen can be every bit as luxurious, functional, and timeless as the largest rooms we create.

Storage designed for serious work.
From tailored drawer interiors to open cookware storage with stainless rims that prevent nicks, every Christopher Peacock cabinet was built around how our Test Kitchen moves.
Inspiration can come from anywhere, and in this kitchen it started with a single mosaic tile.
When one material has the right character, it can set the tone for the entire design. The duckegg blue and brass accents in this tile created a palette that felt calm, timeless, and full of presence — so every cabinetry detail followed that lead.
That’s the value of choosing one element you truly love: it becomes the anchor for the whole room. Let the color, texture, and mood of that piece guide your decisions, and the design will feel cohesive, intentional, and effortless to live with.
Save this if you’re planning a kitchen — a strong starting point makes every choice that follows beautifully simple.

This week we had the pleasure of returning to the
@williamssonoma Test Kitchen — a space we recently reimagined with our American‑made, bench‑built cabinetry.
The goal was simple: create a professional kitchen where a fast‑moving culinary team and a cocktail party could feel equally at home.
@monogramappliances twelve seamlessly integrated ovens and @cosentinousa ’s beautifully durable stone surfaces completed the vision, bringing performance and practicality to every inch of the room.
During the event, Monogram hosted a thoughtful conversation about how the design came together, and the Williams Sonoma culinary team shared why this collaboration mattered to them.
For us, it was an honor to help shape a workspace built on craft, clarity, and purpose. A huge thank‑you to the Test Kitchen team and Williams Sonoma for welcoming us into a project that celebrates both beauty and function.

A pantry should make everyday life feel easier — simple to use, beautifully organized, and quietly elegant.
For this room, the hand‑painted Refectory cabinetry keeps the room calm and refined, while the open shelves and deep drawers make storing food and cookware effortless.
It’s a small space, but one designed with intention: everything within reach, everything in its place, everything working for the way you live.
To me, that’s what a pantry should be… simple, useful, and elegant.

When you’re designing a room of cabinetry, the secret isn’t in obsessing over every small detail — it’s in understanding the rhythm of the space.
I look at how each cabinet relates to the next, how the proportions flow across the wall, and how the entire composition feels when you step back.
If the rhythm is right, the room feels balanced, intentional, and beautifully resolved — no matter the style.
That’s the foundation of timeless cabinetry design: proportion, flow, and a clear visual cadence that guides the eye naturally through the space.
Save this for your next kitchen project — getting the rhythm right will elevate the entire room.

Quiet luxury isn’t about making a statement — it’s about creating moments of beauty in the places most people overlook.
A small wet bar tucked down a corridor, a workdesk carved into the corner of a kitchen, a tall cabinet standing gracefully in a dining room… these are the spaces where thoughtful design quietly elevates everyday life.
Even the smallest details, like a hand‑finished cabinet or a 24k gold knob, carry the same level of intention and craftsmanship as our largest rooms.
To me, that’s quiet luxury: work that doesn’t ask for attention, but earns it through its presence, its usefulness, and the way it makes a home feel.

Hot take: I’ve never designed with trends in mind — not once in over 30 years.
People often ask what’s “in” or what they should choose, but my job has always been to create something you’ll love forever.
When a kitchen or a piece of cabinetry is built with intention, craftsmanship, and the right materials, it doesn’t date — it simply becomes part of the home.
That’s the beauty of truly custom, luxury cabinetry: it’s made to last a lifetime, not a season.

There’s a certain clarity that comes from a kitchen designed with both beauty and purpose in mind.
In this Dallas home, the hand‑painted white cabinetry sets a calm foundation, while the walnut accents — including our classic icebox‑style pantry — bring warmth and depth to the room. The oversized Refectory hardware gives the space its signature presence, but it’s the thoughtful details, like the custom towel drawer and the open‑shelf pantry with wicker pull‑outs, that make the kitchen truly work for everyday life.
It’s a balance of craftsmanship, practicality, and quiet luxury — the kind of design that feels as good to use as it does to look at.
