Squarebody Resolute is a task-based project that saw me source a former Government of Canada ‘squarebody’ truck from Resolute, Nunavut. The truck was transported to Montréal by Arctic sealift ship where it was exhibited as an intact large-scale sculptural object.

Tailgate, Laval, 2025. I was told that the man who originally bought the truck as Government Surplus was a scuba diver who travelled around the world to dive. This explains the Hawaii stickers. The yellow sticker to the left reads: ‘Empêcher les dommages provoque en partie la présence de corps étrangers (English: Preventing damage partly causes the presence of foreign bodies). Another sticker is from the Dziennik Bałtycki (English: Baltic Daily) a now defunct daily newspaper from Pomerania, Poland. Certainly, the most beautiful of all the stickers is stuck to the overbuilt brutalist rear bumper—simple black text on a white background ‘May Peace Prevail On Earth’. I am interested in how these stickers tell a meandering and somewhat abstract story of the truck’s post-Government life.
