My mother passed away this afternoon. She passed peacefully in her sleep in hospice care. She was 82.
She was just a cool mom. She didn't take anyone's shit. She was fiercely independent and had a bit of a diva in her!
She was widowed at a young age and left to raise two young boys on her own. She never remarried. She only had a high school education.
She worked shit jobs to keep a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food on our table. And even when we had to live in housing projects and get public assistance at times, she always did her best to raise us to be self-reliant and independent.
She was also a good father. She was a hockey mom to my brother and a Cub Scout Den Leader for my Scout troop!
And yeah, did I tell you my mom was cool? She once took my brother to a Joe Cocker concert and me to a Doobie Brothers concert!
And though I am little numb right now and still trying to process things, I know I will make it through because there is a lot of my mother in me.

The Adventure in today's Urban Adventure Bicycle Ride was a 37.3 mile ride out to the Civil War Fort Ward in Alexandria, VA.
The route of the ride took us through two States and a Territory! That would be, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

I miss my mother. She passed away a little over two years ago. This is a picture of her five months pregnant with me.
She was widowed at an early age. She raised me and my brother single handedly. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her. There is not a day that goes by that I don't try and do something to make her proud of me.
I am happy that she is my mother. In many ways, she is always present in my life. I miss her.

I ran into my friend Luke Cage at the @vacomicon in Richmond, VA today. Us Super Heroes have a way of staying in touch!
Aside from seeing my good friend, Luke, I picked up a Galactus Funko POP and a couple of The Claws of the Cat comics! The Cat is one of the most underrated of women superheroines by far.
Definitely a Comic-Con for the comic enthusiast. I will being putting this show on my calendar.
