Aus einem einfachen Datum wurde jedes Jahr ein Versprechen: Zeichen setzen, Interesse wecken, Atmosphäre schaffen, Unterstützer:innen gewinnen – und die Spannung über lange Zeit halten. 14 Festivals, 14 Bezirke, 16 Festivalzentralen, 14 Farbcodes, 14 Kampagnen, drei Festivalleiter:innen, viele Partnerschaften und tausende Events später endet eine erfolgreiche Ära. (Exhibition) The dialogue between VIENNA and ROME unfolds inside the historic pavilion by Josef Hoffmann. Here, the exhibition design becomes the stage: a spatial translation of two contrasting principles – top-down and bottom-up.
A precise grid structure meets a denser, more intuitive arrangement. Order and spontaneity coexist, creating a setting where narratives overlap and tensions become visible. The pavilion itself, a modernist masterpiece, frames this exploration of how cities shape the way we live – and how design can make these cultural dynamics tangible.

(La Biennale) The AGENCY FOR BETTER LIVING explores the best of both worlds: bottom-up and top-down strategies. Or, in other words: the spirit of ROME meets the structure of VIENNA.
