My name is Chris Hatton from South Wales one of the best parts of the U.K. to live. This is the base of my 2026 @biltwell_peoples_champ bike.
Cone Shovelhead motor with ratchet top transmission, the second best combination in my opinion. Single loop frame I made earlier this year, it’s 4” up and 26 degrees of rake.
The plan is to do a fully moulded show bike that goes, high and tight inspired by the Japanese/80’s style choppers with narrowed sportster fuel tank and an oil tank in the rear fender. I will be doing all the fabrication on the build and then have some good people help out with the stuff they do best, paint the artwork and upholstery.
Building this out of our new workshop in the garden will be the best part.

Finally got round to making the headlight for the @biltwell_peoples_champ bike, the body of this lense was pretty battered so I made a new one out of stainless steel with a shape more suited to the bike using a @fnacustomcycles LED unit. Just need to have it polished now.
Having this bike come together the last week or so has been such a weight of my mind. Still blows my mind how the paint and artwork has come out, all works so well together. @carter78x and @independentpaintsupplies for the paint and my amazing fiance @sami_graystone for the artwork. Also @shotguncosta with the great snaps

So glad to finally get to this stage, massive thanks to Matts Machine Shop for there time and rolling road this week and @philgresty and @jakegeffen for talking me through setting the @morrismagneto up.

Some week! Finished getting the bike together earlier this week, everything tightened up ready to rip. Then I couldn’t get the thing to kick over, kicker arm would hardly move with the spark plugs out and all my weight on it. After some advice from Matts machine shop it was decided I should check if the pistons were fouling the bores so off came the top end, no improvement. Bottom end was still mega tight, thinking the worst of having to split the cases to check the crank bearings i stripped the rotor and stator off ready. As I pulled the rotor off the bottom end came free and spun as it should. Turns out the spacer behind the rotor wasn’t big enough so when I tightened the front pulley it fouled on case and stopped the motor turning over.
If you got this far fair play, thankfully it wasn’t that serious but definitely wasted some time.
