Exhibition Text:
In Two Rooms, the artists inhabit separate spaces that reflect contrasting psychological landscapes. The exhibition serves as a study in extremes, bridging the gap between the frantic energy of urban life and the meditative silence of nature.
Christopher von Gruben captures the passion and raw intensity of the contemporary moment. Through the lens of urban nightlife and escapism, his large-scale figurative paintings unfold as a „swirl of daze and color.“ Figures and atmospheres blur into one another, mirroring the loss of control and the desperate desire to feel real amidst an intoxicated reality. His work represents the noise, the motion, and the emotional dissonance of the external world.
In stark contrast, Seunghee Shin
@seunghee.shin_art embodies deep tranquility. Exploring the intersection of nature’s materiality and human intervention, she utilizes gravity as a primary creative force.
Her „blue landscapes,“ created through a performative-meditative process using a singular cobalt palette, serve as spaces of spiritual depth. Rather than depicting a scene, she captures a resonance between form and the formless, representing the silence, the stillness, and the internal contemplation.
While their works appear distinct, a subtle dialogue arises within this contrast-between motion and stillness, impulse and gravity, passion and tranquility. Two Rooms invites the audience to navigate the distance between these opposing forces and find their own connections in the space between.
