Incredible shack in the woods near Slaithwaite. Forget your million pound houses, this is where I want to live!

What a wonderful map making walk we had yesterday with @chrisgoddardmap at the beautiful Broadhead Clough. We made maps that engaged the senses, maps that challenged the idea of what a map is, maps that took some of us to imagine things from a beetle’s point of view 🪲 it was incredibly fun and creative. Thank you to all our participants for joining in with their ideas, accidental poems and drawings. We’re hoping some of these will end up in our published zine. It was the most beautiful of sunny autumn-winter days, we were briefly rained on but got a lingering rainbow in return, then walked back with the moon in sight 🍂 ☀️ 🌧️ 🌈 🌙 And thank you to @culturedale and @heritagefunduk for funding this event 🙌

The cup and ring marked stone above Gardoms Edge near Baslow never fails to amaze. You suddenly stumble upon it in a clearing in the autumnal bracken on the edge of a birch glade. A truly magical spot

Earlier this month we hosted a map making walk and workshop with local cartographer @chrisgoddardmap at the beautiful Broadhead Clough @yorkshirewildlifetrust_ nature reserve. The weather was a bit “challenging” as it so often can be around here, but this brave crew turned out in their waterproofs for a great workshop. There’ll be another workshop on 30th November, tickets will be available from tomorrow morning. Link in bio. Keep walking 👣 Thanks to @culturedale @heritagefunduk for supporting this workshop.

In Marsden for the walking festival, but the rain put paid to our nature art walk on the moor, so it ended up being a still life session indoors. Who knew making a collage of some heather, ferns and other moorland plants could be so rewarding! Thanks @lauratillotson_ for such a great workshop 🙏

Booking is now open for a map making workshop with local cartographer legend @chrisgoddardmap - booking link in bio. Christopher recently published a map - the only one in print! - of The Calderdale Way, so we’re delighted to have him onboard with this project. PeatZine follows sections of The Calderdale Way to tell the stories of the moorlands. We’ve created our own PeatZine hike that follows the Calderdale Way between Cragg Vale and Todmorden, and takes in the beautiful Broadhead Clough Nature Reserve where sphagnum moss can be seen in some abundance 💚 The event is on 4th October 2-4.30pm at the beautiful Broadhead Clough Nature Reserve. The event is free as it is funded by the good folk at @culturedale with @heritagefunduk

Watching the Pumpkins in Scarborough. I felt like an angst-ridden teenager again.
