‘SIN CITY’ I make my way over to the @sydfilmfest to see if I can land a hot distribution deal for my modestly successful climbing film “The Cafeteria,” but not everything is as as it seems..! Revel in the dark, twisted world of corruption, vices and power as we journey into the treacherous and notorious King’s Cross. Starring:: @chrisbeecroft as Chris ‘Bad Boy’ Beecroft @prettypatient as Nathan ‘The Claw’ Shaw @jimmychin as Jimmy Chin @rosierai.xx as ‘Street Crook’ And a special thanks to @_zoehollywood for shooting a few sequences. this is a six minute video, so hugely impressed if you make it to the end. Short form content is OUT! xoxo #climbing #gambling #corruption #kingscross

THE CAFETERIA - A WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CLIMBING FILM ✨NOW PLAYING✨ This is the opening sequence to my feature length climbing movie ‘The Cafeteria.’ I made this film over the course of two years, following friends around the state as we developed a crag and climbed some of the WA classics. It took a long, long time to make. I had to learn how to edit video, figure out what story I wanted to tell, digitise endless tapes from the old 2000’s camcorder I made the whole thing on, and get out on as many adventures as I could, camera in hand, capturing the magic. In February we rented a 170 person cinema and totally sold out the premiere in less than a week of announcing it - it was an incredibly gratifying and motivating experience. The amount of support and love for the movie has been overwhelming & has definitely inspired the way I want to make things moving forward. It feels like a tall order to ask for 80 minutes of your time, and a janky, feature length movie definitely isn’t the sort of quick-fire, short form content this app encourages, so if you do settle in to watch it, thank you so much, it truly means a lot. A lot of good company helped make this film happen, happy to have a camera stuck in their face while they climbed, and a massive thanks to everyone involved. I hope this film at the very least inspires you to make things too. There’s no sponsorship, no plugs, the equipment to make it is genuinely cheap garbage, I edited it late at night around work, and we packed the cinema out ourselves too. we did everything independently for the joy of making things with your friends, and you can too 🦦 Click the link in my bio or search for the film on YouTube to watch! enjoy 💙

THE PEEL APARTS Here’s a short film I made about a rare and obsolete medium of film - Peel Apart Polaroids. A lot of plosives in this one, so watch out! Making a four to five minute film about the process of taking photographs I guess is a little niche, but maybe fix yourself up a nice cup of coffee and settle in if you fancy it. It’s about the trials and tribulations of trying to creatively push yourself into unknown territory, in search of making things that are hopefully challenging, interesting and unique. It’s also about the finite nature of things. I’ve been sitting on what maybe could have been a neat little heirloom - about 15-20 packs of expired, hard to find, expensive to purchase packs of Fuji Peel Apart Polaroids, and rather than let it sit and expire any longer, I took all of it to Bali and tried my absolute best to make something of it, and enjoy, for probably the last time, shooting this beautiful, forgotten analog film format. A massive thanks to @potatoheadbali for having me, And also a massive thanks to my pal @apocalypso_camp for coming along and helping to document the process. #desapotatohead #goodtimesdogood #polaroids #filmphotography #peelapart @potatoheadbali

Strap some bin bags to your backpack, slurp up some tannin water and join me on day one of hiking to Lake Rhona via a Secret Mountain Magic Arch in the wild and rugged Tasmanian wilderness. Out to David Attenborough for this one. Big 100! Anyone can get out and enjoy the great outdoors - and I’ll share a few tips and tricks on making the most of it. 📍Lake Rhona, Tasmania

A year ago today we sold out a 175-seat cinema to debut our $0-budget climbing film ‘The Cafeteria.’ The movie took me about two years to film, and about a year to edit. It’s one of the biggest projects I’ve ever worked on, and one of the most collaborative too. I made a lot of important friends and deepened a lot of existing connections in the two years it took to make. Lots of adventures, lots of sleeping in the dirt, lots of energy and excitement over climbing, nature & community. Some pretty special moments in there. It ended up being feature length. A hefty bit of video! We put it on in the cinemas and filled the room with just about everyone we cared about. A one-and-done premiere to celebrate everyone’s efforts. People cheered when climbs got sent on screen. People cheered a lot as the credits rolled. A pretty special moment for me! Long form creative projects are hardly incentivised in this current creative climate. They take fucking ages to make, and don’t have the hooks or algorithmic-sensibilities like quick-fire short form content. It’s hard to believe in something for so long that maybe no one will care about or know about. We’re lucky that people did care about The Cafeteria - our stupid, weird little climbing film shot on a camcorder. Not a single person had seen the film in full until it was on in the cinema. I wanted to back myself and try and make something I could stand behind from beginning to end, and trust I could make something worthwhile. The process of making The Cafeteria changed a lot for me. I’m currently working on a second climbing film, hopefully building on some of the good stuff we tapped into with the first. It’ll be a hefty one too. Huge love to everyone that starred in and participated in The Cafteria. To @roux.ko & @jase.mck , who asked if I wanted to come film an area they wanted to check out and kicked this whole thing off. huge love to everyone that came to the premiere. It’s on Youtube if you want to watch it at home 💙

Painted landscapes for this years Double Exposure exhibition. - Using a small multi-coloured torch, a long shutter release cable, exposures of about 1-2 minutes and the Double Exposure 800T film stock, I attempted to ‘colour in’ aspects of a few landscapes around Yallingup. I wanted to create something slightly surreal in an otherwise very familiar setting - I’ve photographed around these spots a lot of the years - and thought this might be a way to explore the landscape with a slightly distorted vision.
