Celebrating ten years feels unreal. When I started Chreece, I was in my twenties with not really much of a blueprint, little resources—just the stubborn belief that our community deserved a bigger platform.
Ten years of anything takes patience and resilience. Taking care of yourself for a decade, surviving on the basics, nurturing a relationship for that long—it all requires love and a certain type of delusion. And this festival has been no different.
There was a time when I tried with everything in me to find community—someone to take me seriously, someone to believe in me. It took a LONG time. But here’s the truth: don’t ever give up. If you’ve got love, if you’ve got vision, keep building.
