David Millar took the Transit 1.0 Prototypes behind the scenes at the 2023 Tour de France. This was our first field testing, 20 pairs handed out to former professional cyclists and media to give us feedback which helped us continue development and create the Transit 2.0. Three years in the making, the CHPT3 TRANSIT 2.0 shoes are now available on CHPT3.com. In the words of David, “In many ways these represent what I always wanted CHPT3 to be and do, an amalgamation of all my years racing: my fascination for tech and performance, with an appreciation for art, design and style - which I believe is always part of bike racing (and life). Mixing it together and bringing it into the everyday non-racing world, no matter the bike or the ride, I want things to work and look good. Our collaboration with Brompton reintroduced me to urban riding, something I hadn’t done since I was a kid on a BMX in the 1980’s. A time when the bike was my ticket to freedom and fun. I’ve found that once more, but I’m not that kid anymore, I have higher expectations of the equipment I use - it pissed me off that I couldn’t find shoes that worked on AND off the bike, I tried everything out there - none of them worked well and all of them looked, ahem, anti-style. Some of you may have noticed us talking about Sporting Club CHPT3, seen images from our events, or even spotted @millarmind testing the new SCC3 kit at the Traka last weekend. Behind the scenes, we’ve been beta-testing communities, events, and products with the founding members of Sporting Club CHPT3 crew. We’re still refining the cycling kit, but for now, we’re excited to share some of the off-bike styles with you. In line with the CHPT3 vibe I've been rediscovering a new chapter in my cycling and sporting life. In the sense that it's not about racing against other people anymore, and it's no longer all about the bike, although needless to say cycling remains the main focus. I've become more open to trying new things to keep me in the best shape possible, running has become a go-to, but that's not what's been keeping me busy recently... Just over a week ago I did the Mallorca 312 with @sportstoursinternational - that was the longest road ride I've ever done, and it was one of hell of an experience. Less than a week later I was down to do the @Traka 360, and I was intending on doing it as fast as I could, no holds barred. Unfortunately I came to a grinding halt after only 58km with a blown out and ripped front tyre. This was most frustrating because I was using it to wear-test the latest CHPT3 cycling kit under the guise of our Sporting Club. The Sporting Club is something I've created to embody my newly discovered love for cycling and sport in general, it's an ethos that I believe we can all benefit from, using sport to better ourselves. I'm enjoying riding my bike more than ever, and especially pushing myself to go beyond what I normally I would. I am learning anew that sport is about more than physical exertion, skill and competition, it’s also about social interaction and play, journeying into ourselves, finding and testing what we’re capable of and connecting our mind and body in a way that makes us feel better about everything. Sporting Club CHPT3 is the manifestation of this, a reason to go out and get it done, no matter how small or big. I ended up getting a last minute start in the Traka 100, not quite as epic as the 360 but probably more fun, it was the perfect opportunity for me wear-test the latest protoypes of our SCC3 kit.
