National Police Week
Yesterday we joined CHP Bakersfield, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Bakersfield Police Department, Tehachapi Police Department, and many other public safety partners and community members in Bakersfield to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
National Police Week serves as a reminder of the courage, dedication, and selfless service displayed by law enforcement officers every day. We remember those we have lost, stand beside the families they left behind, and continue their legacy through our commitment to serving our communities with honor and integrity.

Today, we celebrate all the moms who helped guide us through life with love, strength, and support. We celebrate those moms balancing the challenges of public safety, supporting loved ones on the front lines, and all moms who keep their families strong every day.
Mothers are often our first teachers, biggest supporters, and lifelong protectors. Their sacrifices and dedication help shape our families and communities every day.
From all of us, Happy Mother’s Day! We hope you have a safe, relaxing, and special day with the people you love most.

Fire Safety 🔥
As the weather warms up and vegetation dries out, it’s important to practice wildfire safety both on the road and at home. Proper vehicle maintenance, ensuring nothing is dragging underneath your vehicle, and being mindful of where you park or stop can help prevent vehicle-caused wildfires.
Maintaining defensible space around your home, knowing your evacuation routes, and having emergency kits ready to go are all essential steps to staying prepared and safe.
Follow the Kern County Fire Department and CAL FIRE social media pages to stay informed throughout wildfire season.

We recently participated in a Maximum Enforcement Period where CHP Mojave Area officers issued over 150 citations and made 5 arrests. Speed, distraction, and impaired driving continue to be leading causes of traffic crashes.
Slow down. Put the phone away. Never drive under the influence. Give yourself time to get where you’re going safely.
Your choices behind the wheel don’t just affect you. A brief moment of poor decision making will impact your passengers, other drivers, and entire families.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting a 24 hour Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) focused on speeding to help reduce serious and fatal crashes across California. The MEP began on April 28 at 6:00AM and will end on April 29 at 5:59AM.
The CHP is committed to slowing drivers down before a dangerous situation becomes tragic. In 2025, CHP officers issued over 491,000 citations for speed related violations last year. Based on preliminary data from the CHP Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System, over 110,000 crashes resulted from unsafe speeds. These crashes led to more than 400 deaths and injured over 68,000 people.
Drive safe Kern County!
