Last week, Chown had the privilege of attending and sponsoring the Maybelle Center Family Reunion! The Maybelle Center works alongside neighbors in downtown Portland to address the root causes of social isolation by fostering connection, belonging, and social health. Through their Neighborhood Programs and Assisted Living Services, they create meaningful community for adults facing the stigmas of mental health and financial challenges. The event was a powerful reminder that everyone deserves connection, community, and a place where they belong. To learn more about the Maybelle Center and the incredible work they’re doing, visit their page here: @maybellecenter

We were thrilled to spend time with @mgstaps during Milan Design Week, gaining a deeper appreciation for what sets them apart. Focused on Italian design and elevated by Swiss engineering, MGS has been redefining what faucets can be since 1997. Their commitment to 100% stainless steel and fully recyclable materials across kitchen, bath, and outdoor collections emphasizes longevity, sustainability, and performance. Refined, minimal silhouettes paired with a tangible sense of strength. Their sleek designs don’t just enhance a space visually, but contribute to a broader sensory experience through touch, weight, and interaction. Each faucet is hand-polished by skilled artisans, resulting in a flawless finish. Based in Gravellona Toce, just outside Milan, MGS continues to set the standard for enduring Italian design. We can’t wait to see what they do next. #MilanDesignWeek #MGSmilano

How does Chown Hardware go above and beyond for our clients? Let us give you a real-life example. Picture this: You’re a designer wrapping up a long day when a client calls with an urgent request. They’ve moved up their project timeline and need updated lead times for every item.. by your 10 a.m. meeting tomorrow. It’s late and most brand offices, especially those on the East Coast, are already closed. You need answers fast, and you need them to be accurate. So you contact Chown. Our Project Management team gets to work first thing the next morning, reaching out to 11 different vendors to gather the most up-to-date lead time information. By the time your meeting begins, you’re fully prepared and confident in every detail you present. We do the legwork so you can focus on your clients – saving you time, reducing stress, and helping your projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Chown Hardware spent the week in Milan for Salone del Mobile (@isaloniofficial )and Milan Design Week, moving through showrooms, installations, and conversations that pushed design beyond the expected. The biggest takeaway? That the best design right now isn’t just seen; it’s felt. In the way light hits a finish, the weight of a faucet in your hand, the way water, steam, scent, and space come together. There’s a clear shift happening. Products can no longer be just beautiful, functional objects; they need to become experiences as well. Immersive, sensory, and emotional. Water, especially, is being reimagined as something expressive and energizing. And this changes everything. When function is expected, expression becomes a differentiator. Utility becomes the baseline. Identity and connection are where design is going, alongside a deeper focus on living not just longer, but better, with wellness, ease, and longevity built in. Behind it all is craftsmanship and story, seen in how materials transform and heard from the people behind them. Last week reminded us that great design isn’t accidental; it’s shaped by philosophy, process, and a clear point of view. And that’s exactly what we’re looking for: brands and products that deliver this level of experience for our clients. So, what are we bringing back? A sharper focus on brands and products that make our clients feel. Products that aren’t just functional, beautiful, and follow this year’s particular trend; but instead, bring a deeper appreciation for the details that shape how a space is experienced. Milan didn’t just show us what’s new, it showed us what’s next. The future of the home isn’t just beautiful. It’s expressive, immersive, and deeply human. #milandesignweek #salonedelmobile #thefutureishuman

At Fantini, understanding the brand goes beyond the product. It’s something you have to experience. During our time in Italy, Fantini brought us to Lake Orta, where their story comes to life. From visiting the factory to staying at Casa Fantini, a space designed entirely with their fixtures, every moment reflected the brand’s philosophy. Fantini is guided by a simple but powerful message: “Well Done.” A principle rooted in its founder’s vision and carried forward today by Daniela Fantini, who stepped into leadership at a young age and continues to shape the brand with intention. Her perspective is clear – every product must have a soul. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t belong. That mindset is evident in everything they create. Fantini sees themselves not just as manufacturers, but as designers who specialize in water. Their work remains grounded in a modern, contemporary point of view, while continuing to evolve into new spaces, including kitchen and accessories. From the iconic I Balocchi collection that first put them on the map, to the newest Flora collection, and the Sailing Collection that was shaped by Lake Orta, their approach remains consistent, refined, and deeply considered. We’re grateful to the Fantini team for the warm welcome, for sharing their story, and for the reminder that great design goes beyond what you see – it’s something you feel. #milandesignweek #fantini

For Milan Design Week, we came with a purpose – seeking out specific brands we have our eye on and experiencing their collections firsthand: to touch, feel, and learn directly from those who know them best. That red thread carried us through every showroom and conversation, leading us to three standout names: - Rubinetterie Treemme - Known for pushing the boundaries of faucet design, Treemme treats water as both a technical element and a sensory one. Their collections balance precision engineering with sculptural form. - Kreoo - With the Kreoo line, stone becomes something entirely unexpected. Marble is softened, shaped, and reimagined into pieces that feel less like fixtures and more like art. - SDR Ceramiche - Playful yet precise, SDR Ceramiche brings personality into the bathroom space. Their use of color, pattern, and form challenges convention, proving that utility doesn’t have to come at the expense of expression. In a week filled with countless brands, these moments stood apart. They felt personal, grounded in discovery, and shaped by meaningful conversations. #milandesignweek #salonedelmobile

Day 3 in Milan and it was all things Gessi! Their philosophy isn’t just about living longer, but better – through ritual, wellbeing, and the full expression of water. For our Gessi experience, we started at the source with a factory tour, watching raw materials like metal and bamboo transform into the refined pieces they’re known for, like the Jacqueline collection. The factory reflects their philosophy at every level. Designed as a “factory without walls,” it feels more like a living environment than an industrial space, seamlessly connected to nature. With its open layout, natural light, and adaptive, open-air systems, the space prioritizes wellness, sustainability, and a more intentional way of working. From there, we moved into the showroom, where everything came full circle. Their “living longer, but better” ethos is brought to life through the new Haute Culture collections and an overhead steam shower experience, where soft vapor cascades like a facial, paired with light therapy for a complete reset. We wrapped the day at their Design Week party, reinforcing that design isn’t just something you see, it’s something you feel. #milandesignweek #salonedelmobile

Come with us as we explore Milan for day two – the Milan Design District. Once you step outside the Salone del Mobile exhibit and into the Milan Design District, you discover that the city becomes a showcase as well. Palazzos, courtyards, private gardens, and pop-up installations draw you in at every turn. For one week, every corner offers something to experience in the study of beauty, innovation, and purpose. On day two, we took a moment to visit the Milan THG and Fantini showrooms, speak with @alex_dornbracht on the latest Kallista designs, and pop into Simas to listen to @karim_rashid_official unpack how design shapes a better life, and how connection drives what we choose to bring into it. Seeing what they’re creating has inspired us, and we can’t wait to bring connective energy back to the Pacific Northwest. #milandesignweek #salonedelmobile
