Sewing Tip 🧵🪡 Hide Back Stitches SEWING PATTERN NOW AVAILABLE IN BIO! Last year when I worked for an industrial product line, I learned a lot of sewing tricks from the experts in production to help with efficiency and make it look more refined. 👌🏽 This tip helps eliminate the sight of a back stitch on your products 🎉 In this project example, instead on starting along the zipper, I start on the edge perpendicular to where I want to sew. And then when I sew it all together, it's hidden in the seams! And I didn't even have to start with a reverse stitch 🙌🏽 Have you seen this trick before??

Made, 8 years in the making ✨🖤 If you love thrifting, repurposing, creative problem solving, and supporting a cause, you're in the right place!📍 I had no idea of the path that my sewing skills would take me starting out in 2014, but I'm so grateful for where I've been, who I've met, and how I've been inspired by women around the world. 🌏 I love teaching, bringing people together, and making something out of nothing. Thanks for following along and sharing your support 🙏🏽

How to prep high contrast quilt shapes and squares for your baby shower! 🏁 SQUARES I’m making a 48”x48” quilt with 8” finished squares. That’s a 6x6 grid. I cut 9” squares so I’ll have a 1/2” seam allowance when I sew it together. SHAPES I printed my shapes on regular paper, then traced them onto the YELLOW GRIDDED side of Steam-A-Seam 2 sheets. I’ve seen tutorials that you can print directly onto these sheets, but you’d have to trim it down, so you’d loose sheet space. You could definitely just let your guests draw their own shapes on the YELLOW GRIDDED side, or you can draw them beforehand. I wanted a specific look and certain shapes that represented my family 🖤 LABEL Side 1 - Plain, no drawing Side 2 - Yellow gridded, with drawing ASSEMBLING (1) Peel side 1 *Make sure you’re not peeling off the adhesive layer. That needs to stay on side 2* (2) Stick to scrap fabric (3) Cut out shape (4) Peel side 2 (5) Stick fabric shape to square (opposite color of shape) (6) Iron TIPS 🖤 Have a finished square next to instructions as a demo 🖤 Or demonstrate for guests if you’re not doing it with them 🖤 Have a trash can nearby to throw away the scraps I hope this helps!! What questions do you have??

Change of plans 🤪 Don’t get me wrong, adhesive backing works really well! I just wanted extra reinforcement since baby will be fiddling with it and I miiight need to wash it a lot 🫣💩 Action plan (1) Zigzag stitch around each shape (2) Assemble the squares (3) Layer (4) Probably “stitch in the ditch” between the square seams (5) THEN tie yarn at each corner so there’s more for baby to play with 🤗 I think this will give a fluffier feel as opposed to quilting which will flatten the layers. I’m not a quilter. I’m doing things more for aesthetics and practicality 🫣 What do you think?? #babyblanket #highcontrast #babyquilt #babyshowerideas #babyshower High contrast baby quilt baby shower craft idea diy baby quilt black and white quilt

Yes, I did a zigzag on the raw edges when I was done 🤪🫣 Not a 30-minute project cause of the dang pockets, but I made it work! And it could definitely be done in that time otherwise! I’m actually thinking of taking them off and putting them on the sides to look like cargo pants. 🤔 Anyone else prefer the more cropped pant look? There’s extra fabric in there to let it out when she grows too!

Did I finish in time?? NOPE 🤪 I got hung up on figuring out the placement of the pocket and if it would actually fit in the pattern. And I still had to get ready and prep toys and snacks for baby girl. Check back tomorrow for part 2 ✌🏼

Nesting has begun! But I also have been meaning to do this for quite some time 🫣 Baby girl has been able to reach supplies in my sewing cart for over 8 months. Now it actually clears up space on the left side of my machine and makes more sense on this wall since I’m right-handed. And how have I not put up my sign sooner?!? It’s the perfect spot. It feels very intentional and really claims my creative space 🤗

I don’t like wide, flowy pants while I’m pregnant 🤪🫣 There’s just too much fabric for me and I prefer tighter, stretch fabric that shows my bump 🤰🏻 It’s cute, and I appreciate everyone’s compliments on my last reel 🤗 Just not my preference. Oh well. But I enjoyed making these and will try them again when I’m not pregnant so I can see and feel how they are on my usual body size 😊 That’s the gamble of making your own clothes and trying new patterns. And I’m not an expert yet in modifying patterns to fit my body, especially when I’m pregnant. And I don’t want to take the time to fix these when I know I already like stretch fabric on me during this stage. So I want to SELL these because they’ll be too big for me later. Lmk if you’re interested and I’ll give you specific measurements. Size 10 #lanepantspattern with no mods. The seams are very scrappy because I don’t have a serger, and I actually originally made them slightly wider than the pattern and then later sewed it to its intended width.
