Meet Chontane, a Berlin-based producer and DJ with Ukrainian roots blending sharp-witted sound design and genre-fluid tunes for the capital and beyond. He cut his teeth at Krach in Berlin’s leafy Humboldthain before delving into venues like Tresor and K41 (Kyiv), as well as RSO, Berghain, Blitz, Basement NYC, Fuse (Brussels), and of course, Bassiani. Techno, breaks and electro, permeated with tribal rhythms and 90s kick, a modus operandi that sets him apart as Berlin favourite and clubfloor champion. Since 2018, his studio releases have appeared on labels like Monnom Black, Mutual Rytm and Emerald, and a further push to innovate has brought his self-run imprint TANE into the light where his powerful yet contained sound flourishes. Last year’s Set a Dot ([TANE003]) received particular attention for its rhythmic dexterity and relentless drive, with standout tracks Magallanes and Cycle Break quickly becoming crowd favourites. His sound is dense, layered, astute in its selection and unsparing in its demands, body-focused music from the future that invokes the spirit of the early 2000s and all its techno splendour. With a discography that spans over 90 tracks, he continues to evolve, blending UK-style rhythms with hypnotic loops as well as other influences. Bassiani Podcast 303 is a take no prisoners, 105-minute mix that covers all his usual bases and more: mile a minute beats that climb towards their heady peak. As he gears up for more releases and global gigs in 2026, Chontane remains a vital voice in modern electronic music, always ready to surprise and move the dancefloor.

For me this is very personal. I have family and close friends there. Some are defending the country. Some are volunteering. All of them are living through something most of us cannot imagine.
Over the past years I was able to travel to Ukraine, to see the reality beyond headlines. That experience stays with you.
Today I am joining a fundraiser by @aid_x_10 to support @grupa_barakuda , a volunteer unit made up of civilians who stepped forward to defend Ukraine.
This war is not abstract. It is brutal, ongoing, and real. Ukraine is still standing because people like them are holding the line, protecting all of Europe from Russian aggression.
If you can, please donate. Even sharing this helps.
