With the Loop Collection, we made a deliberate decision to go lighter. We’ve used durable woven webbing across the collection, strong enough for daily use, but noticeably lighter in hand. The webbing feels good to hold, sits comfortably on your dog, and doesn’t weigh you down on longer walks. We didn’t want anything too precious, because real life with dogs is messy. It’s sand and water and muddy paws. It’s tennis balls thrown and returned looking… questionable. It’s jumping, it’s running, it’s play. So every piece, from collars and leashes to tennis ball carriers and AirTag holders, has been tested with that in mind. Adjusted and refined until it felt right. Life doesn’t always follow a plan. And that’s exactly the point. A small look behind the scenes of something we’ve been quietly working on — a collection shaped by the in-between moments. The walks that stretch. The detours that become the day. The kind of time you don’t plan, but remember. Loop began there. Pre-order details coming soon.

Some stories begin with a change of pace. Nathalie moved to Cape Town from Germany, stepping away from a corporate life in search of something quieter, more grounded. Here, she adopted a dog, Ringo, who changed her life. What followed was a need for well-made essentials for him. Something that didn’t quite exist yet. So she started making them, in her garage, alongside Gift, her gardener. That was the beginning of Chommies. Over time, it grew. The team expanded, but many of the early hands are still part of it today, shaping what the brand has become. At the market, that story continues in small, familiar ways. Dogs gathering at the stall. Returning faces. Moments that feel less like transactions, and more like rituals. Moments built around something shared: a love for animals. Here, dogs are not an afterthought, they’re part of the rhythm of the day. You’ll find Chommies at the Oranjezicht City Farm Market 🐶 - Wednesday evenings (until the end of May, before our seasonal pause): 4:00pm – 9:30pm - Saturday: 8:00am – 2:30pm - Sunday: 8:30am – 2:30pm

There are two kinds of dog owners… Those who are prepared: Bag ready. They pick it up without fuss. They leave no trace. Calm. Capable. Unbothered. And then there are the others: pockets empty. Avoiding eye contact. A sudden interest in their phone. Considering a leaf, a receipt… or pure denial. Be the first kind. You never plan for it… but as sure as shit, it always happens. Good news: The Chommies No. 2 (biodegradable) poo bags are back: still doing the unglamorous work, just got a little glow up. Strong enough to trust. Big enough to avoid any dramas. So you can handle it in one go… and carry on like nothing happened. Every walk has a shituation. Handle it like a pro.

Meet Banks. New to the Chommies office. Zero experience. Excellent attitude. Already been caught sleeping on the job. (Calls it “energy management.”) Given his sunny disposition, the current roles under consideration are: Customer Service (greets everyone like they’re the only person that matters) HR (very strong on morale, but still workshopping the concept of boundaries) Office Manager (runs a tight ship, mainly by following everyone around and checking what they’re doing) So far he’s shown unmatched enthusiasm and a remarkable ability to derail focus within seconds.
