What a journey it has been š
When I first joined the
@jcimanila Basketball League in 2022, all I wanted was to prove I belongedāfrom being undrafted, to becoming a first-rounder, to winning MVP. But year after year, there was still one thing missing: the championship.
This season, I finally understoodā¦ it was never meant to be about me. It was about something biggerāabout leading, and giving up numbers and awards, so that my teammates could rise. I learned that confidence isnāt built overnight.. in a single gameāitās built in sacrifice, in trust, in every moment I choose others over myself.
When the draft came, I didnāt select for skill nor positionāI drafted guys whoād buy into my passion, my work ethic, and beliefs. That when I GO TO WAR, I KNOW THEY'LL FIGHT WITH ME.
What I got was more than a team. My vets carried my spirit, made the new guys feel at home, and together we pushed hard and sacrificed, set egos aside, and adjusted to make sure we all work on a common goal. Our lights shined, and we gave everyone (from Main to OG) the courage to shine too.
During the finals, my suspension turned out to be a blessing, because It proved that MY GOAL HAD BEEN FULFILLED: I saw a team that stood without me, yet fought with everything they had. And when I saw the frustration in their eyes after that loss, I knewāTHERE WAS NO WAY I'M LETTING THEM DOWN.
To my BD77-JET Enterprises family, thank you for believing in me. I remember telling you that if you're just going to be a 'filler', donāt take me. But if you wanted a championāIām your guy. And together, WE PROVED IT.
4 years of JCI Manila taught me more than a lifetime of basketball. Through pain, I grew tougher and wiser. And somehow, this short, unathletic guy led a team to defy the odds. Turns out, with dedication and grit, even someone not built for it can carve out a legacy on the court.
This journey was everything. And I wouldnāt trade it for the world.
