🔴 I’m starting a new series here called #FROMSKETCHTOSTORYJAIMEHAYON a place where I’ll share the concepts, inspirations, and hidden narratives behind some of the most emblematic pieces in my career.
For me, design has never been only about function. It’s about imagination, storytelling, and the way objects can carry meaning in our daily lives. Through these posts, I want to take you deeper into my world of design and creation . how ideas grow from a sketch in my notebook into stories told through form, material, concepts and color.
ℙ𝕆𝕊𝕋 𝟙 / chapter begins with one of the most historic projects of my journey: my collaboration with Kutani Choemon in Japan
@choemon_pr @choemon_studio ….
🔴𝟙 / ❥ Kutani-yaki porcelain was born in the 17th century in Ishikawa, Japan, marking one of the first great traditions of Japanese porcelain. Known for its five colors —𖣘 green, blue, red, purple, and yellow became a way to bring both artistry and storytelling into everyday life. Plates, bowls, and sake vessels were not only functional, but also canvases where entire stories and cultural moments were painted.
𒊹 When I traveled to Kanazawa, Ishikawa, I learned how deeply history and narrative are embedded in Kutani-yaki. This inspired me to create sketchbooks filled with surreal fantasies, which I later translated into functional objects I personally designed sake servers, bowls, and everyday pieces.
𒊹 My collaboration with Kutani Choemon, one of the finest makers of this porcelain, became a truly historic project in my career: a bridge between centuries-old craftsmanship and my own universe of imagination, where tradition and fantasy meet at the Japanese table.
