Local girl takes self timer photos in the park wearing the top she sewed from a curtain all by herself
Happy launch day to the super cute Margie Top pattern by @stitchwitchpatterns ! It was once again a great joy to be a pattern tester, and to see how everyone else's projects came out today. I need an event to wear this to. #margietop
Combining proof of social life with sewing projects - I feel like it's a rule that I need to make part of my ren faire costumes myself. I cut up my old ill-fitting dress I sewed from a crappy pattern as a beginner and made it into a lace-up bodice, skirt, and separate sleeves, then used extra fabric to make a hennen. Was a fun day being a princess cone head :)
Wanted to post pretty flower pictures for Earth Day but thought about all the rampant problems with the world that make it difficult to celebrate 🥲
So here are some small actions I've learned about over the years that help our local ecosystems:
🚫Stop using pesticides and herbicides
🚫Avoid rodent poisons (that also end up poisoning owls, hawks, eagles, snakes, cats, and other animals higher up on the food chain)
🚫Stop using AI for everything
✅ Plant native plants and wildflowers in your yards (these use less water than lawns and provide food sources for pollinators)
✅Wait until a few weeks into spring to clean up leaves (beneficial bugs lay eggs or overwinter in fallen leaves and are often killed by people picking up their leaves before they emerge for the spring)
I call this costume "Weird Modern Adult Red Riding Hood Without the Hood or Cape or Basket or Anything"
Actually though, as my sewing girl journey continues, I got the lovely opportunity to be a pattern tester for the Willa Top by @stitchwitchpatterns which releases today! It makes for a lovely spring, summer, or autumn top, easy to dress up or down for the occasion. I'm still in the beginner sewist stage and even I was able to make it well! It also was a good excuse to style myself and take pics. Thank you Stitch Witch 🥰
