To the little girl I was at age 10, who dreamed of having a dog and, against her parents’ wishes, brought home a little dog after returning from vacation without giving anyone a choice:It was the best thing I ever did. Because of it, my father, who was battling cancer, was able to live a normal life and spend his final moments with his best friend. My parents had been separated for years (I only saw my dad every two weeks).
After my father passed away, my mother couldn’t keep the dog because he couldn’t be alone. My father’s sister adopted him and took very good care of him. Unfortunately, due to disagreements with my aunt, I could only see my dog until I turned 17. The sudden death of my father and the loss of my dog shattered my world. My dog was my most precious possession and the only thing that kept me connected to my father.
About 3 months ago, I realized that I needed to get a dog after finally coming to terms with my father’s death. Today is a special day because I’m welcoming Ziggy, my little dog. I’ll give her the best life possible with her sister, Kit Kat. She’s not Truffet, who was so important to us and whom I loved so much, but I’m using my resilience and the past to move forward in the most beautiful direction. To my dad, to me at age 10, to my Truffet, to my Kit Kat, and to my Ziggy! To this new beginning filled with joy, love, and discovery! #ziggystardust #peace
37 is just a new beginning! Thank you for the love, warm thoughts, and attention! After this year, it makes me feel even more special. It means the world to me! Love ❤️🔥 #37 P.S. I was lucky enough to meet my idol. My dad would be proud 🥹✨
