I wasn’t going to share this on my feed, but I decided to in hopes that it inspires you to keep going after your dreams.
The truth is, taking the leap is hard, but not taking the leap to follow your heart is harder. Pick your hard. 🤍
I started with just a sewing machine and a camera…I am so grateful for both of those gifts who came from two very special women in my life. I became obsessed with learning and growing Boxwood Avenue, and I do believe that it’s grit and tenacity that will get you further than anything else in life - well humility and generosity too.
And while sharing this small “win” is fun, I hope you know that behind the scenes I struggle to find balance. I often wonder if I “am doing this right” and if I am “good enough”. I critique my own work and always see room for improvement.
I experience failure, and there are many days when it feels easier to throw in the towel than to keep going…but then I think of all of the women who came before me to provide me with the opportunities I have, and I take a tiny step forward.
Let’s face it, I’m not creating world peace here, but I’d like to think that my little piece of the internet and my existence not only provides beautiful visual inspiration, but also a place where you can come to feel inspired to pursue your dreams, and to live a more meaningful life.
Despite going from Miu Miu to moo moo and back again, one thing has always remained true: I believe that a life of meaning comes from the luxury of simplicity, and I hope that I inspire that within you - and that it trickles into your daily life and makes at least on some level, an impact.
Thank you for all the sweet words and endless encouragement. For those of you who have been here since my Etsy days, and if you’re new here, it means the world! 🫶
Dreaming of Europe? Hi, moi aussi.
I first visited France about a decade ago to visit family, where my grandfather is from. I instantly felt “home”, there’s just some places that will do that to ya. Now, I spent just about as much time as I possibly can there. 🇫🇷
I believe there’s a kind of beauty in France that lingers in the light, the quiet, the way time seems to stretch. It’s why books are written, songs are sung, and the stories of Paris and Provence have woven their way into every history book over time.
I went on a similar retreat in the Dordogne region and it really did change my life. I carry those memories with me to this day. When Boxwood Avenue started to put down roots in France, I dreamt of welcoming friends from near and far to share that feeling of “home” - not just in France, but beyond all throughout Europe. We now have retreats in Italy, the Cotswolds (next week @jzinteriordesigns !!), France, and I’m still dreaming of Switzerland and Portugal!
Think: Wandering antique markets with no agenda, slow lunches under olive trees (full glasses of rose). Conversations that start with strangers and end with lifelong friendships. For mother-daughters, sisters, friends, designers, creatives, and yes - even couples…
Not just a vacation, a slower, more beautiful way of being curated with intention, warmth, and a touch of old-world charm. Full of antiques and good wine and food and FUN too!! If you’ve ever longed for a different kind of trip…one that fills you up and stays with you long after you return home, this is it. 🥰
✨ Comment TRAVEL and I’ll send details for our next trips (2026!). We still have two remaining spots left for our Christmas markets tour in Paris this December 2025! We’d love to see you there!

Hello there, so glad you’re here!😘
🇫🇷 Comment “Bonjour” and I’ll send you my top three favorite small towns to visit in Provence!!
I’m Chloe, interior designer and owner of Boxwood Avenue. Many people forget where we started: boxwoodavenue.com, which is still a completely free resource for you to access our design ideas, recipes, and travel recommendations. 🫶
I live in the country and spend part of my time traveling Europe for our lifestyle retreats (join us!?), and sourcing for our interior design clients. When I’m not designing, I’m sharing garden recipes and slow living ideas here on Boxwood…or spending time with my sweeties! 🐐🐴💗
Follow along for all the European, slow living, farm recipe, antiques, design, and goatie content! Xx
What makes something beautiful?
I believe it’s found within the things that can’t be bought. This applies more than just to design.
It’s about all aspects of life: family, friendships, laughter, and all of the things that truly matter.
I share more about this on my substack weekly, if you find yourself drawn to the European aesthetic and essence of beauty, I think you’ll enjoy. Comment BOXWOOD and I’ll send you a link! 🤍
Interior designer @chloe.legras transformed her 400-square-foot Paris studio into a romantic French retreat where original terracotta floors, antique beams, lacquered brass fixtures, and beautifully patinated flea market finds create a space that feels both intimate and richly layered. With a restrained yet expressive palette, the apartment is a study in small-space living—where every object feels considered, every detail tells a story, and charm is found in the quietest corners.

The best kept secret of the Paris flea market...and it isn’t a flea market! You’re gonna want to save this one! 👏
I had heard about Hôtel Drouot by a few design friends, but it felt a bit like an enigma: something that I knew existed but didn’t much have the desire to go - why would I, when I had the fleas every weekend!?
Oh how wrong I was! If you’re planning a trip to Paris, shopping at Drouot is a MUST (if you love antiques and interior design)!
That said, it might feel a bit overwhelming, so I’ve put together a step-by-step guide to navigating shopping, buying, and shipping.
Comment PARIS and I’ll send you a link to the guide! Xx Chloe
This tiny Paris apartment is the dream. ✨ Interior designer Chloe Legras (@chloe.legras ) transformed this petite, 430-square-foot apartment into a soulful retreat, layered entirely with one-of-a-kind flea market finds.
More of Chloe’s home COMING SOON!!

If you’re planning a trip to Europe, the best advice I can give you to truly understand a city is through…a cooking class.
👩🍳 COMMENT PARIS for details on this cooking class in Paris! 🦢
I really believe you can deeply understand a culture in two pretty distinct ways. First, visually in the way it is constructed - architecture, design, and materiality.
And second, through its food.
If you’re here, we likely see eye-to-eye on this one already.
So like me, chances are, you’ve spent years absorbing both: food and design as one. Really, they’re a part of the same conversation.
This is why we always include cooking classes in our @boxwoodavenue.abroad trips, and most recently I had the opportunity to experience a full afternoon in the kitchen with @susanherrmannloomis in her cooking class @onruetatin .
I have done this in Italy, Spain, the Cotswolds, and of course throughout France and every time I walk away with so many wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation for the place.
So I say this, if you want a truly local experience, go straight to the horse’s (er - chef’s) mouth. 🤭

If you’re planning a trip to France or Paris, chances are, you’re going to want to head to the flea markets! 🦢
Here are some of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up from years of brocante and vide Grenier shopping.
Comment FLEA and I’ll send you my full guide to shopping the flea markets + my map for shopping St. Ouen!
Interested in joining us on an antiquing trip to Europe? We have a few spots left for our trip this September to Provence!
1. Quality isn’t a price point: Just because something is inexpensive, doesn’t mean it’s not high quality (and vise versa).
2. Check the weight, joinery, and overall wear & tear of the piece. A veneer isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but ensure it’s not peeling, or poorly repaired! If so, just know, you shouldn’t overpay for the piece.
3. Carefully evaluate the patina. A lot of times there is new mixed in with old, alongside replicas. If you’re investing in a piece of furniture, look at how the piece has worn with time (does the wear make sense?). Look at markings, and when in doubt, a quick reverse google image search can be helpful to evaluate fairness of price!
What’s the best thing you’ve ever found at the flea markets!?
Coucou, I’m Chloe Legras! 🤍 I’m so glad you’re here!
Don’t worry! Boxwood Avenue is not going anywhere. If anything, we are just getting started!

Over the years, I’ve really connected with people here with a shared love of antiques and creating a beauty no matter where you are.
Since moving to Paris, I’ve found so much courage and a new version of myself, and I felt it was time to fully embrace who I am. In addition to boxwood, I’m here to share with you an honest behind the scenes look at my day to day life.
For those of you that have been following for so many years and have supported my journey, I want you to know how much it’s meant to me over the years. I am truly so so grateful.
I hope you enjoy this next chapter of Boxwood. I feel like we’ve planted seeds and we are sprouting now. I’m so excited to share with you everything we’ve been working on, and if this was your first time, here, it is so nice to meet you. I’m glad we can be friends!
Costa Brava, if you’ve not been, add it to your list immediately. A place that will surely make you fall in love with the beauty all around you, pure magic.
🌞 Comment SPAIN for my guide to 72-hour itinerary! 🥰
I’d been once before and stayed at @labiondabegur , and it was magical enough to return this year to soak up a bit of spring sunshine and eat as much fish and rice as possible in a 3-day span.
This trip we were recommended the town of Cadaques, which was absolutely magical. If you go, be sure to pop into @pepa_cadaques !
I love seeing beyond France to gather more inspiration - specifically in Spain the tiles! And the colors! It’s so delicious and makes me want to create interesting patterns and use wrought iron and stained glass! Getting to travel is such a gift for our design projects…I digress…
I could go on and on, but I suggest you simply experience it for yourself! Xx Chloe
