(full recap on BRUX’ page)
Rhythm presents Detroit electro legend Detroit In Effect (aka DJ Maaco) for another night of raw rhythms, machine-funk, and high-voltage dancefloor energy at Standard Time.
Raised on live percussion and shaped by Detroit’s underground, Maaco’s journey into electronic music began at 16 after being introduced to the Roland 808 and Juno-106 by Kool Keith. By the early ’90s, he was already leaving his mark - releasing music under the alias Maaco and later dropping Are U Married in 1994, a cornerstone record that helped define ghetto house and launch an international career.
Decades deep, Detroit In Effect continues to deliver uncompromising club sets rooted in electro, ghettotech, and raw Detroit energy.
Joining Detroit in Effect on floor control duties are 999ADJ and Chloe J, 2 prominent heads in Toronto’s local underground.
Expect sweat, bass, and no filler.
Friday, March 13th. Doors 10pm.
Tickets available on RA. Link in bio.

A little late - but what an immaculate 2025 🤝 2026 handoff
Big love to all of you who made the sold out 14 hour NYE celebrations possible.. and to those of you who truly kept me and my spirit alive through last year when at points I really didn’t think I was going to make it
2026.. let’s dance
Some serious milestones orbiting right now..
- just celebrated the 1 year anniversary of rhythm
- this spring will be 10 years since I moved to Toronto
- today is my 30th birthday
My 20s were an insane ride - moving to Toronto, discovering DJing, going back to school, moving to Ibiza and then the UK (all while completing my diploma), and then on to a short stint in LA, working for and with some incredible artists (Meduza, James Hype, Mr. mau5, Gregory Siff, Smearballz, BRUX, Bootyspoon, to name a few), some big loves (and heartbreaks), speaking on panels with some incredible minds, making the most of a global pandemic, throwing a rave under the Gardiner, getting to dance around the world with my friends, sneaking into Coachella, catching Sunwaves in its prime, going from blonde to brunette to pink and back to blonde, working on a project for Black Mirror, getting adult braces, seeing the Chili peppers in Barcelona, visiting a hippie commune in France, rescuing Phoebe and Tokyo, starting my own business, moving said business into a physical space, and making so many incredible friends along the way - the list really does go on
There’ll never be enough post space to embody a decade of living - but had to pay some sort of homage to the girl that got me here 🎈
…what do you say we keep these good vibes going?

A little late, and Instagram only allows 20 photos in a carousel… but no amount of photos could ever capture what the last 12 months have meant to me with Rhythm.
It’s been full of highs, lows, much lower lows- new friends, new family, and lessons I’ll carry for life.
No business owner should have to experience catastrophe 6 months into their business. When the fire happened, it really did break me. It nearly destroyed all the work I and so many wonderful people had put into this thing. But through it all, I kept coming back to this quote from Andy Grove-
“Bad companies are destroyed by crisis. Good companies survive them. Great companies are improved by them.”
The fire derailed us in some ways, but it also revealed what truly matters. Rhythm isn’t just a space, it’s the people who fill it, build it, and believe in it.
This year was only possible because of our people. Our team, our community, and every artist, DJ, and promoter wanting to bring their vision to life through the space…. You are what gives me intense hope for what the future hold for us. I’m forever indebted to all of you
Roll on year two. (Maybe fewer fires this time)
❤️
