This Indian rose nowadays has become a rarity- it has amazing scent. I purchase Rs 20 worth of it from a ten year old manning the cart - during her summer holidays … and then Ellumalai after finishing his tea offers to drop me to the office. And we chat. He is suffering due to gas shortage. His auto runs on LPG.The cylinders are double and sometimes more than the normal in cost and has to wait too. He says people are changing the autos to electric but it is expensive and he cannot do it. He is ready to wait. He laments that we Indians vote by taking money and it is why we get wrong people who do not care for people. I chide him he can take the money and vote for someone else. He says that is incorrect and cannot happen. So there is a sense of justice in dishonesty too.,, Anyways he says he is ready to wait for the war to wear down or will apply to become someone’s driver… Well even his option is related to the war .,, our lives are nothing without the fossil fuel .,,

A conversation that truly left us inspired. From designing her own home Sans Souci a space that reimagines the very idea of living to her belief that architecture must be democratic, sustainable, and rooted in the local, every word from Chitra Vishwanath was a lesson. She reminded us that we don’t need to bring back old styles, but rather borrow techniques to build better futures. And if her work were a movie? A romantic one that ends happy. That’s the kind of architecture we want to see in the world.
