Celebrating Alumni, Stefan Johansson Receives 200,000 SEK Cultural Grant!
We're thrilled to announce that Stefan Johansson, alumnus of our Visual Communication + Change programme, has been awarded a 200,000 SEK bidrag from Kulturförvaltningen to support the renovation of Chisel Studios!
🎨An Inspiring Journey of Creativity and Community
Stefan's path exemplifies the power of creative entrepreneurship. After relocating to Stockholm in 2022, he and his wife founded Chisel Design AB in 2024, followed by the acquisition of Chisel Studios - Rinkeby's first multifunctional art studio and gallery. Through dedication and community support, Stefan has not only secured this prestigious cultural grant but also raised an additional 160,000 SEK through crowdfunding, demonstrating the impact of his vision to empower youth through art and creativity - a mission he began during his master studies in Växjö.

Finally got to do a “Paint & Sip” 🖌️ after years of having this on my to-do list! 🥰
Thank you @chiselstudios for having an afternoon session, so I could still be home for dinner/bedtime! 😊 I even got to take my bike out for a ride there and back, and @meganmilliann651 and I got to have our first solo friend date in what seems like forever! 💜
I especially liked not knowing what “the plan” was, and getting to follow instructions - with a twist, of course. Putting your own touch on the painting feels most authentic, and I loved that the bottom part of the canvas was entirely up to us to decide! 😍
To be honest, I had no idea for what mine would be. I spent a lot of time on trying to get natural clouds, and then quickly had to decide what to do with the time left. What came to mind was a desert, sand dunes to be precise, so that’s what I did! 🐪
And then it of course needed some sort of building, so I figured I’d add a 3 mages type of house, but followed my gut when it said to stop after making the frame. It felt like a stone arch of sorts… and then suddenly… 🌟 I thought of the white curtains, like in the hall of prophesies in a certain wizard book, with its archway of souls.
And then I felt like I wanted to put a little star at the top ✨ … but after starting with a cross, I stopped. It felt right, and I knew in my body that this piece was done, even not knowing why or what it signifies. 🤷🏾♀️
I have a theory - relating to marriage, perhaps, rather than THE cross - but the beautiful thing about art is that everyone can decide for themselves what it means to them! 🥰
So grateful for the opportunity to paint again, and in such a casual, friendly setting! 🙏🏽❤️
