Weeks posts
At the invitation of the University of Arts London (UAL), Business of Fashion, Textiles, and Technology Institute (BFTT) and the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), I was in London last week to contribute to the symposium on ā€˜Material Futures: Transdisciplinary approaches to Sustainable and Circular innovation’ Alongside other expert speakers from Industry and Academia, we outlined the Fashion, Textiles and Technology Industry sustainability challenges, and areas where cross-disciplinary approaches are necessary in order to drive progress. I went further to highlight our 2 key projects as a brand (@redbuttonng ), our next milestones and our goals - the alternative textile and the e-platform for circular fashion. Being in this room was a big nudge to continue working on the e-platform even though I’ve been quite exhausted by it but this is not about me. We will build it. Major takeaways; - Research is being funded for new materials testing, an example is a material that fast fashion companies can use that decomposes quickly instead of polyester. - Global partnerships are key for driving innovation, across different chains of stakeholders. Thank you to the UAL, V&A and BFTT for having me and all the stakeholders within this ecosystem working hard to change our fashion industry for good. #sustainablefashion #circularfashion #fashionleaders #circularinnovation #victoriaandalbertmuseum #businessoffashion #uniofartslondon #redbuttonfashion

Pitch Queen from Africa hosted over 100 startup founders in Moscow on ā€˜Winning Pitch Formula 3.0’ . Ok I’ll have to admit, I wasn’t expecting this terrific turn out and absolute participation. . Back story: I was invited to Moscow to speak on several panels. During the conversation, Diana (my host) mentions, I see you have a platform where you teach entrepreneurs how to pitch, can you host something like that for our entrepreneurs too? We can do the publicity, just come and meet the class and teach? (Of course paidšŸ¤‘). We concluded. I sent in materials for the sales copy. . I landed, did my first event, changed for the masterclass, and met a full hall, with people standing all over, waiting to learn from me. Let me put it in perspective, you know how Social Media Week events work, with simultaneous events in different sections, that’s how the Art Werk Forum was. Different events were happening at the same time and I still had my event full to capacity even as a foreigner. Most people used earphones for the simultaneous translation (non-English speakers). With Creatives from different countries, languages, we had a great time answering all their questions, making jokes and learning. I am indeed grateful. . And the feedback, swipe to see some. Totally mind blown. . Thank you again @artwerkforum for this incredibly organized event. . . #pitchqueen #thepitchcentre #globalimpact #pitchcoach #entrepreneurship #startupcoaching #artwerk

October in Washington DC | World Bank Fall ā€˜25 Meetings | World Economy Summit | Beyond Borders Connect Always a great time learning and connecting with professionals across industries. At the Semafor’s World Economy Summit, I was particularly interested in how world power is thinking about AI, investments, and emerging markets, which opportunities are springing up where, and who are the players. Turns out that American tech powerhouses and investors are looking at deployment of digital infrastructure and investments to……guess the emerging marketā€¦ā€¦šŸ„šŸ„šŸ„ā€¦..Asia! Nairobi and Lagos where options but the main challenge with African markets is unfavorable economic climate, and a myriad of other issues. America attracts more talent than any other market, coupled with better infrastructure so it’s understandable why the big tech investments are in America. Nevertheless, it’s no news that African tech founders and creatives are pushing the envelope amidst the odds and building for us, Africans. A large young population is no longer bragging right. The magic wand is actually creating favorable policies, reforms and infrastructure that fuels growth. Finished off the day with dinner at @thecontinentdc where I had the best goat meat peppersoup ever🤤. šŸ‘— Asymmetric architectured asoke and denim @redbuttonng #worldeconomysummit #worldbankmeetings2025 #beyondbordersconnect #washingtondc

The swan, our symbol of grace and elegance, speaks to the beauty that can be derived from the water hyacinth weed, abundant in the coastal areas of Lagos, Nigeria. This weed is specially processed and handcrafted into this artful fibre that has become our signature fibre since 2018. For this release, we have fused purpose, modern design, and local artistry, where every piece is handcrafted to evoke a reaction. From revamped classics to our bold take on alternative materials, we present an inimitable design innovation that truly impacts our people and the environment. ā€œJeanius’ is a denim expression of this art, for chic, Iconic women who power change and do exactly what they want to do, in power and grace. ā€˜Jeanius’ is live on Redbuttonng.com and @redbuttonng Curated & Styled by: @akinlolu.certified Model: @enaesigie šŸ“ø& šŸ“¹: @shootwithgt šŸ‘— : @chiomaredbutton šŸ’„ @luabimakeovers

Honored! As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, I’m thankful to the @globalentrepreneurshipfestival for the recognition of our work in promoting sustainability and circular economy through @redbuttonng and @redxchange_ From the innovative use of alternative organic textiles, to building technology infrastructure for garment repairs and rentals, we are developing new value streams for our fashion industry beyond making beautiful dresses. It’s been an incredibly difficult year for us with challenges into new challenges into more, and to still be seen even in our grind behind the scenes is deeply reassuring. We’ll come to share the stories but for now, I’m grateful to be recognized. The iconic festival is currently underway at the Entrepreneurship Village, Akure, Ondo State. Still on UNGA79, I was at the Unstoppable Africa event hosted by the Global Africa Business Initiative and the UN Global Impact, which brought together business leaders and top government officials from across Africa and the rest of the world to discuss solutions for a global future for Africa. The 2-day event had panels that tackled issues with global trade, climate crisis, digital and creative industries, finance and economics, etc. I was very interested in the sessions around the digital and creative economy which featured exceptional creative talents and leaders that have scaled their work globally while still impacting their local communities. There were many strong points and takeaways but one major highlight was; the way to influence any society is through culture. I thought that was powerful and instructive - our culture as a continent is ā€˜main character’ in our relations, trade, business, art, etc. The evening ended with a cocktail reception by MIPAD to celebrate their 2024 awardees. #UNGAdairies #UNGA79 #unstoppableafrica #unglobalcompact #newyork
