This is an ode to the project that started it all in university. Going to study Fashion was one of the hardest and best decisions I ever made. Because I chose something that was my love and decided to study it to be a career. So trying to learn how to separate what was once a private thing that I only shared when I thought was perfect suddenly became something I had to allow others to see and give their own opinion, it’s been hard but to all my tutors to my peers and to every single person who has ever supported me throughout the years thank you.
It’s been a while since I’ve been on here but wanted to give an update on my work. So this is my pre-collection sketchbook so far it’s an accumulation of some of my thoughts ideas. There is still a lot to do but excited with the progress. Honestly I’ll probably delete this soon but just wanted to keep you guys updated also. P.S don’t steal my ideas thank you.
A day in my life but really my degree show which was last week Friday. The last three months working in uni has been hard but I think I finally found peace. On a more positive note the degree show is open for the rest of the week 13th June - 18th of June so please drop in to Dmu to see my work and my amazing classmates, friends and peers work.🥳
That all for now folks also follow me on my celebration journey.
Peace 🎤🫳😂
This is some of my fabric for my graduate collection called Diakwu cloth it is a sustainable fabric made by artisan weavers in Nigeria, who use garment production waste fabric cut into pieces and we’ve it into a new cloth to utilise rather than just as a base.
As a designer creating circular fashion is important to me as sustainability has become a tag word rather than an issue we are dealing with. So working with a brand like Diakwu cloth is important for me, as it’s sustainable but I’m also supporting Nigerian artisan weavers who in a modern time like this are not being utilised or appreciated be it because of a more favourable modern textile or because of where they come from.#tagyourtalent #sustainablefashion
