My garden - which is not my garden, but I do as if - houses lots of birds. In recent years, during springtime, I was often awakened at dawn or even earlier. No greater pleasure then, than stepping out onto the balcony and hear the birds singing. The painting pays tribute to those very special, privileged moments when the veil of night slowly lifts and the day dawns, the sky brightens with color, and birdsong reigns over a peaceful world. The view is not from my home balcony, but from another one which was mine for just one night. It was not far from Claude Monet's house and offered a wonderful bird's-eye view over the misty wooded Seine valley.
As others before, this painting - or rather its birds? - recently chose to whom it wanted to belong. A choice I am very happy with!

Marie invited me to the expo of Michel Hendryckx “Schoonheid als verzet” at Gent St Pieters.
Marie has corroborated with this expo for the translation to French, which are QR coded for the french speaking visitors.
Thanks to Marie’s incredible comprehension of variety of arts, my visit became 3 dimensional.
What a privilege to learn European art history and some ideas.
