What are some of the country’s most unifying words? ‘National parks.’ That’s right—nine in ten Republicans, Democrats, and Independents embrace the term ‘national parks.’ This information is based on a story done by last week. Interestingly, tucked away at the bottom of the list of the most divisive words was the data on ‘national parks.’ Goodness knows, we could all use a little positive news these days. #nationalpark #nationalparks #axios
National Parks in Distress 🔥 An upside-down American flag appeared on El Capitan—a powerful signal of crisis. This comes after 1,000 National Park Service workers were fired, leaving our parks underfunded, understaffed, and in jeopardy. From Indigenous displacement to conservation battles, Yosemite has always been a battleground. Now, it’s sending us a clear distress call. Will we answer? 🌲⛰️ #SaveOurParks #Yosemite #Firefall #ElCapitan #NationalParks #PublicLands #EnvironmentalCrisis #Conservation #NatureLovers #ActNow
In the late 19th century, a unique community was created just outside of Chicago, designed to offer workers a well-planned, self-contained environment. This community featured elegant brick homes, green spaces, and even its own school and recreational facilities. The town was built around a factory that revolutionized the railroad industry, and the intention was to provide workers with a higher standard of living while they contributed to the growing industrial economy. The creation of this community sparked social change and played a key role in labor movements in the United States. Today, the site where this town once stood has been preserved as a national monument. Can you guess where this historic place is? It’s Pullman National Monument. #PullmanNationalMonument #HistoricSites #LaborHistory #ChicagoHistory #NationalMonuments #AmericanHistory #ExploreAmerica

Horace M. Albright (1890–1987) was a key figure in the early development of the U.S. National Park Service (NPS). He served as the second director of the NPS from 1929 to 1933, following his mentor, Stephen Mather. Albright was instrumental in shaping national park policies, expanding the system, and advocating for the protection of natural and cultural resources.
Before becoming director, he played a crucial role in establishing the NPS in 1916 and worked behind the scenes to ensure its survival and growth. He also helped integrate historic and battlefield sites into the park system, broadening its scope beyond just natural landscapes.
After leaving the NPS, he worked in the private sector, including a long tenure with the U.S. Potash Company, but remained a passionate advocate for conservation. His efforts contributed to the expansion of the National Park System and laid the foundation for modern park management.
