In honor of their daughter, Cove, Walker and Aly Winter recently shared a beautiful gift with our children’s hospital community 💕📚 Their donation of books to the PICU and NICU will help bring comfort and moments of joy to children and families during their hospital stay. We are grateful to walk alongside families like the Winters and witness the lasting impact of their compassion.

In May 1997, a new era of pediatric care began in Mississippi with the opening of the children’s hospital we know today as Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. The Batson Tower was named in honor of Dr. Blair E. Batson, recognizing his lifetime of extraordinary contributions to improving the health and well‑being of children across the state. His vision helped pave the way for modern pediatric care — bringing together innovation, compassion and family‑centered design under one roof. Nearly three decades later, the Batson name continues to symbolize hope, progress, and a commitment to Mississippi’s children. 💙🏥

Reece • Age 12 • Brandon Born with cytomegalovirus, Reece faced profound hearing loss. But at just six months old, thanks to the expert care of Dr. Jeff Carron at Children’s ENT, Reece received bilateral cochlear implants – a gift that allowed him to hear, speak and tell his parents, “I love you”. Now 11, Reece is thriving. He loves his dogs, video games, music and cheering on MSU sports.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common (and usually mild) illness that most often affects young children — especially in summer and fall. It often starts like a cold, then shows up as small blisters on the mouth, hands or feet. The good news? Symptoms typically clear up within a week. This guidance comes from Healthy Children, the American Academy of Pediatrics’ trusted parenting resource. Link in bio.

Rhett Jordan has been a regular patient at Children’s of Mississippi since he was practically a baby. Under the care of pediatric neurologist, Dr. Brad Ingram, Rhett has made great progress, and the Children’s of Mississippi team helping to care for Rhett has become like part of the family for Rhett and his parents, Mary and Josh. That’s a common story here, but it’s always a gift to see the special bond that forms between a family and their child’s care team.

We’re not saying we’re good luck… but we’re not not saying it either. 😉⚾️ Before taking the field for the Governor’s Cup, Mississippi State Baseball stopped by Children’s of Mississippi to visit with our patients—and later that night, they brought home the win. Smiles, high‑fives and maybe a little extra magic. Thanks for such a special visit, Dawgs. 💙🐶

Ten years ago, a bold vision for Mississippi’s children took a giant step forward. 💙 In April 2016, Kathy and Joe Sanderson launched the largest fundraising campaign in Children’s of Mississippi history with a $10 million leadership gift, setting the pace for a $100 million effort to expand and transform pediatric care across our state. That vision became reality in 2020 with the opening of the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower, a seven‑story expansion that more than doubled our pediatric hospital space and allowed even more children to receive world‑class care close to home. 🌈
