Last year I first heard Astrokeyy with his project Southern Hospitality. It was a project I liked but didn’t love. When this project Aggrandize 2 with Chief Saï dropped, I saw it but was flooded with albums at the time (and still am), so it took me a minute to get to it. Well Astrokeyy left the kind of mark with this project that has me thinking the next time he drops, I won’t want to wait.

Astrokeyy is coming out of Houston, and this album brings a lot of soul with southern roots that run deep. HiiiSteaks brings a slow and methodical beat which Astrokeyy matches with his energy and flow. A good intro track but only the tip of the iceberg. The Source really kicks things up a notch, really ushering in the Southern/Texas styles and sounds. A driving beat that’s uplifted by the horn throughout. The flows, the rhymes, the style, all feel smoother yet sharper than Southern Hospitality, and really hooked me into the songs here.

All the features here showed up and delivered, mostly new names but of course Miquo I know, one of my 2026 Rising Stars. Aggrandize 2 brings a soulful, jazzy yet bouncy soundtrack for Astrokeyy to rhyme across. Songs like Texas Artifact, BxB & Bloodsport are among some of my favorite tracks and favorite beats on this album. This project was quick but felt focused and packed a punch.

Astrokeyy really stepped things up from his last release in my opinion. Everything here was hitting for me on a higher level than previously. And I like that Astrokeyy has a range that spreads the width of music I like. Not everything has to be for me, it’s nice when an artist has the ability to catch me with one project and maybe not hook me the same with the next one.
