Booth Wellness put on a variety of community events recently to help students connect, recharge, and manage stress. Boothies strengthened their physical wellbeing through fitness and dance classes. They also enjoyed a snack break with Chicago-based vendors Farmers Fridge and Yoberri Gourmet, and explored nutrition with a registered dietitian and culinary nutritionist. Students also took breaks from coursework to unwind with a pizza-making class, a visit to a local tea house, an art museum tour, and Wags for Wellness—a quarterly favorite event featuring adorable pups.

“My daughter, Georgia, is 7 years old. My son, Chase, is 1 and was born during my first year at Booth. It was one of the most demanding and formative periods of my life: I was caring for two very young children, going through pregnancy and childbirth, and aiming to still finish my MBA within two years, often while my husband was working in Beijing. “My family gave me the emotional foundation to keep going. Booth also gave me a community that made room for the whole of my life. Fellow parents understood the logistics and emotional weight immediately, but I was equally moved by classmates who had no children and still showed me real generosity in team settings, scheduling, and everyday interactions. “Motherhood may make your schedule tighter, but it does not take away your ability to grow, learn, or lead. In some ways, it can deepen those capacities. Becoming a mother can sharpen your sense of purpose, strengthen your resilience, and expand your understanding of what leadership really means.” —Grace Wang, Full-Time MBA student #MothersDay

“Our Carnaval party offered a unique opportunity to experience Brazilian culture while bringing the broader community together in a vibrant way,” says Ludmilla Lomba, a Full-Time MBA student and Booth Brazil co-chair. Hosted by the Booth Brazil and Latin American Business groups, the Carnaval brought together more than 350 attendees from across Booth, the UChicago Law School, and Northwestern University. The high-energy celebration featured DJs, a photo booth, authentic goods sourced directly from Brazil, and plenty of glitter.

Around 60 Boothies recently traveled to Austin, Texas, with the Booth Soccer club to compete against other business schools at the Winder Classic. The annual tournament is hosted by the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, and Booth Soccer has attended for more than a decade. This year, one of Booth’s four teams made the semifinals! “When I got to Booth and found out we had a team, I was thrilled that I would have an opportunity to continue playing competitively and building friendships through the sport,” says Meaghan O’Reilly, a Full-Time MBA student and co-chair of Booth Soccer. “I particularly love traveling to compete in tournaments—something I haven't experienced since my club team in high school. The camaraderie built from those experiences is genuinely difficult to recreate as an adult.”

Pitching for two Division I college baseball programs helped Master in Management student Corey Savedoff prepare for the rigor of Booth. “It really showed me how much of a competitor I am, whether it’s in baseball, school, or work,” says Corey, who previously played at the University of Rhode Island and Lafayette College. “It taught me how much effort I have to put forth to succeed at the highest level.” Now, he’s balancing classes and career prep with pitching for the UChicago Maroons. Corey has earned multiple wins for the team and was named Pitcher of the Week on February 16 by UChicago’s conference, the University Athletic Association. “All the work I’m doing now is going to pay off in a sport that I love and in my career,” he says.
