things we love about our kitchen 🍲🥢 ✨ flush mount sink not as common as top or undermount sinks, but we love the seamless look and effortless cleaning. ✨ kitchen tap placement our top priority for the sink was to have the tap mounted in the sink, instead of on the countertop. we also asked the plumber to position the handle facing forward. this setup keeps splashes and water pooling to a minimum. ✨ aligned placement of kitchen & living room tiles though we opted out of the HDB flooring, we kept the kitchen tiles that come with new BTOs. we asked for the tiles to to be aligned where the kitchen meets the living room for a seamless transition. ✨ open concept kitchen with chimney hood we went with an open concept kitchen to make the space feel bigger and added a high-powered chimney hood to handle oil and cooking smells. ✨ induction hob our induction hob makes cooking quick, cleaning easy and it’s safer than a gas hob. 🏷️ #home #sgreno #sgbto #sghome #singaporehomes #hdb #sgrenovation #homereno #homerenovation #minimalist #japandi #renohits #noregrets #openconceptkitchen #kitchenideas #kitchendecor #kitchenrenovation

our reno timeline 🏡✨ it’s been a year since we collected our keys, so here’s a recap of our reno journey. the entire renovation was completed in 2 months — we were very involved throughout the whole process and visited our home at least once a week to make sure everything was going smoothly and to identify any areas that needed rectification early on. we also tried our best to make decisions promptly to avoid delays. over the past year, we’ve slowly built our routines here and truly made this place our home 🤍 all the best to those who are currently on or about to start your reno journey! feel free to ask us any questions — we’d be more than happy to share our thoughts and experience.

reno cost savings (pt 2) 🏡💵🧱 1. minimise built-in carpentry carpentry costs can add up quickly, so we only did built-ins where necessary and went with loose furniture for the rest. things like a tv feature wall, built-in tv console, and bedside tables weren’t must-haves for us. for our kitchen, we also skipped the upper cabinets as our chimney hood requires ventilation — this helped us save some costs too. 2. keep bto tiles & fittings though we opted out of the optional component scheme, our bto still came with toilet bowls and floor and wall tiles for the toilet and kitchen. we decided to keep the toilet bowls — they’ve been working well and are still in great condition after almost a year. the wall and floor tiles for our bto project are quite nice too, so we saved a lot by keeping them instead of overlaying new tiles. 3. get chrome fittings while fingerprints may be more visible on chrome fittings, a simple wipe does the job! we opted for chrome toiletry fittings as they’re usually more affordable than options like gunmetal or brass finishes. chrome is also more durable since there’s no coating that can peel, and it’s a timeless choice. 4. join group buys/shop on taobao most bto estates have group buys, so it’s worth checking with your vendors — some don’t mention it upfront, so you’ll need to ask. shopping on taobao also helped us save quite a bit — we’ve linked some of our taobao hauls in this reel! #sgreno #sgbto #homereno
