‘If tweed originated in Whitechapel’
This sample uses the crowding and spacing re-reeding techniques as well as binding with my hand-spun yarns.
In this project I used deadstock tweed yarns and hand spun my own yarns, inspired by the ancient rusting and oxidised hidden motifs around Whitechapel. I wanted to bring a cutting edge to traditional tweed fabrics, in an attempt to modernise British Millinary. I am very proud to announce that I won this competition, along with 2 other very talented weave students!
Sample 5 - using paper yarns and mohair to create multi-dimensionality
What lies on the surface and what lies underneath? What breaks the meniscus and disrupts the water? This project looks at the interaction between the layers of water bodies
