I think Boba’s most recent costume is great. I love the inclusion of the Tusken robes and there was something cool about that episode where he rocks up and he’s painted his armour to spruce it up a bit. Here’s a drawing I did of him, using his entrance into Jabba’s palace as inspiration. I started with me acting cowboyish with my Nerf gun as reference, then used the pose as the basis for the drawing. At one point I realised I wanted his head at a different angle, so I took another ref pic of his helmet. This was fun cos I wanted to paint this one and not use the classic comic-style outlines that I draw all day for my job. #starwars #drawing #boba

Last time we visited Japan (my wife is from Tokyo), a friend took me around a fabulous museum in Ueno Park, where I got to see the most incredible historical Japanese armour. It struck me that the designs appear a lot in sci-fi (Vader’s helmet being a famous one), but it got me thinking of Transformers. Specifically, Galvatron. So I drew this. And then I looked at medieval knight’s armour and did Prime too. Just a little process for a Tuesday evening. #drawing #art #transformers

Well, Akira on the big screen wasn’t as good as I thought it would be…it was way, way better. Apart from Star Wars, Akira is probably one of the most influential films of my life. If I could draw at 1/50th of Otomo San’s skill level, I could die a happy man. Here’s a little process post of a few sketches I made cos I was trying to draw Kaneda on the coolest bike in cinema. #art #drawing #artprocess #akira #kaneda

As a little antidote to the wave of AI rubbish infecting everyone’s timelines, I thought I’d post a little bit of my artly process. A few years ago, I visited a Mucha exhibition in Liverpool and was blown away. I wanted to make something that paid homage to his style but referenced a character I love. I sketched a few Hellboy ideas, gathered a bit of reference and sat down to scribble. More process fun to come! Don’t do drugs, kids. Or AI. #hellboy #art #sketch #process

So, taking a break from dealing with AI thieves and people who don’t like harsh language, I thought I’d post about something else. Welcome, new followers. I am Dave. I draw stuff. #drawing #art #noai #Ilikebiscuits

So, here’s a little insight into the mindset of an AI generative art user. After stealing my art, running it through an AI filter and using it to make an unlicensed print to sell in his online shop, @itoonofficial still refuses to publicly apologise on his page - I can only guess that would be because he is reluctant to reveal that he creates his ‘art’ using AI. An unhinged conversation with him last night ended with him insisting that I should be pleased that someone had stolen my work. And that’s where we truly see what these people are. This guy has no idea why I would be upset with someone taking my work. And the reason he has no idea is simple - he’s never made anything himself. His ‘art’ takes 11 seconds of typing and hitting the return button. How could he possibly understand making an effort? Please observe my gentlemanly, respectful restraint in replying to his utter drivel.

Oh it was redrawn was it? It was a commission piece was it? Yeah, don’t worry about it. You probably didn’t really steal my work at all did you mate? My bad. And don’t worry about apologising. No-one does that anymore anyway, right?

So, as if I needed another reason to make a snarly face when someone mentions ‘AI art’, this guy decided to rip off my Aliens piece that I made specifically for the @printedinblood Aliens Artbook, run it through an AI filter and claim it as his own. I spent a LONG time working out the perspective for that power loader pose, which is based on a photo of my nephew doing a Kamen Rider fight stance, so I know as a fact nobody else on Earth has drawn her that way before. I knew it was my art from the thumbnail alone. These AI people are so goddamn exhausting. Why can’t they make something themselves? What’s wrong with them?
