This visualization of California wildfires explores the ecological logic of fire through data and imagery, revealing how plants, soil, climate, and humans are interwoven within a single living system. Human activity continually transforms the environment, and fire, in turn, reshapes the land—reflecting our evolving and intertwined relationship with nature.
Delighted to present this work at IEEE VIS 2025, to be held in Vienna this November, and look forward to cross-disciplinary dialogues on data, graphics, and interfaces as evolving spaces of human–nature symbiosis.

Attending IEEE VIS 2025 was truly inspiring. The cutting-edge research and creative applications showcased at the conference made me realize that data visualization and data-driven interactive design go far beyond presenting information — they can inspire insight, guide decisions, and transform how people engage with data. Also, there is great potential to explore new ways of designing visual tools that not only communicate data effectively but also promote transparency and trust in AI. Many more methods and possibilities to explore in visual encoding, interaction design, and interdisciplinary integration.
