NV: as a seeker, I won’t moralize envy.
Envy, is like milk; if it stays out too long, it goes bad, usually into deep seeded resentment. Resentment corrodes the body and our relations. But milk when you’re a baby, is delicious! It’s generative.
Envy feels like a negative response to a stimulus that reveals so much about what we desire, what we think is beautiful, what we deny about ourselves.
We live in a time where envy is given validation, a stage, and rewards for its anti-collaborative nature. In fact, we don’t even call it envy anymore, it has many other names that normalize having a fetish for rich or famous peoples lives.
I don’t envy anyone else on the planet except the version of me I’ve yet to become. I’ll chase that guy.
