One last sunset dinner on the beach to bid farewell to summer. I’m now ready for sweaters, big coats, and hot soups. Thank you for the stunning blossom @freeportdahlias

One year of monthly dinners came to a grand finale with a Swan Lake Gala! The concept of an indoor tree and snowing tablescape had been brewing since February. The elements came together in one of my favorite displays this year (June and October was up there).

This is the breakfast sandwich of champions. A scallion pancake focaccia crusted with chili crisp, garlic labneh, pickled daikon, a perfect egg, and more chili crisp for good measure.

Crab (and lobster) tomalley/head butter is an absolute delicacy like nature’s bisque. A rich sauce is made with egg yolks and miso paste. Toasted breadcrumbs provide a crunch against the velvety sauce.

A New England twist on the classic ramen! Lobster tails are cooked sous vide with butter until tender. A ✨golden butter broth✨ is made from butter carefully emulsified in lobster and chicken stock to achieve a tonkotsu mouthfeel. Arugula provides a fresh sharpness, charred corn for sweetness, and chili oil for heat.

I usually like to add new clips to this video each year but I no longer live in Maine. Will someone say hi to the daffodils for me?
.
Comment “secret” to get the location. I don’t want to crowd it because people trample the daffodils.

Look at the difference in size of these two fully mature ripe mangoes of different varieties!
.
The baby sugar mango was the size of a small egg. The skin is edible and when combined with the sweet flesh, it has a satisfying bite like chewy candy. It was also difficult to get my camera to focus on such a tiny flat seed.
.
For the other mango, I simply put it on a stick with a sprinkle of tajin.
.
I’d like to hunt down some alphonso and kesar mangoes in Jackson Heights this summer.
