Early this morning, my father, my first best friend, and reason I became a NYC Firefighter, lost his battle with 9/11 related illnesses. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with my hero of a mother by his side. He had a great Christmas Day yesterday laughed and enjoyed time with family and friends. My Mom said it was the happiest he’s been in a while.
My father served this great City of New York for almost 30 years. He is a legend in the FDNY and retired a decorated Lieutenant out of Rescue 2.
In the coming days we will release his arrangements. Thank you all for being by our sides throughout his battle.
Rest in Peace Daddy.
If you’ve been following me for a while you’ve seen the updates about my Dad’s dementia, and various 9/11 illnesses. One of the main things that still shines through, and makes him smile is his love for the job, the FDNY. Well the other night Ben (@fdnyfirediary ) sent me this picture he took of me after a fire in Hell’s Kitchen. I showed my Dad and his eyes lit up, he said it immediately reminded him of his favorite picture of himself from the 80s and went on to tell me all about that picture. Despite his failing health and fading memories, his love for the job always shines through and can tell you in detail about a random fire he went to in 1984. Thanks Ben for capturing this moment and giving me something to share with my Dad. #fdny

Not only is it Mother’s Day for my beautiful, amazing wife, but it’s also her BIRTHDAY!!! @livhoward11 thank you for being the best mommy to our Josie girl. She has one heck of a role model to look up to in you as she grows up. You are our whole world, you amaze me every single day with your ability to run a small business, be a great mom, dog mom to Akela and everything in between, you’re truly a superhero! Josie, Akela and I are so so lucky to have you in our lives. We all love you more than words can describe. Happy Mother’s Day andddd Happy birthday my love!!
Today their Majesty’s the King and Queen placed a bouquet of flowers at the 9/11 Memorial to pay respects to the fallen. That bouquet was made by my wife @oliviahoward_designs .. to say we were honored that she was asked to do this is an understatement. After losing my Dad to his 9/11 Related illness this past Christmas, makes this all the more special. I know he was looking down today beaming with pride on what Olivia had made. Most of all I’m ecstatic my wife’s talent was on the world stage in such a historic moment. Unfortunately we were not able to make it there today but getting to see all these photos and videos of @theroyalfamily with Olivia’s flowers in hand is truly surreal. Thank you so much to @laurendubbs for making all of this possible.
