This is going to be a bit lengthy but there aren’t enough words in the dictionary to describe what happened to me at this year’s Battle of the Beatmakers @worldbeatbattle … Last Thursday, I made the 9 hour drive by myself to Toronto, settled in after driving through a severe thunderstorm for 2hrs which at one point I hydroplaned 100yds and had to pull over for an hour because the storm was so bad. That Friday I realized my phone service didn’t work so I walked around downtown Toronto with no phone distractions and took in the good vibes of the city and it’s people. Toronto is not only filled with rich culture and good taste but the people there were some of the nicest human beings that I’ve been around, the 6 is truly an inspirational city. Later that night I linked with @trulynxsh and took in “views” of the CN Tower (no Drake was sitting on it) but we chopped it up about the music culture in the city and shared our backstories in this dream called music (I definitely gained a new brother in the music industry, thank you Nxsh 🤝🏾)…then comes Saturday, the day of the big battle. Leading up to the battle, the folks at the @theremixproject hosted a live interview and beatmaking session with the legend @lexlugertmog (he answered every question with passion and really gave us his real self, super inspirational) Later that night, all of the producers went to the @operahouseto two hours before the doors opened, the nerves in all of us kicked in but it was fuel to our fire to shake the room once the crowd packed in…the battle begins and by luck my 1st round was a bye bc the producer never showed up…I made it through the 2nd & 3rd rounds (in total shock bc I was facing 100s of people in the crowd along with the 3 judges sitting behind me @quietazmoney @mobbdeephavoc & @lexlugertmog …but my time came & I was knocked out of the battle and ended up making it into the TOP 4 PRODUCERS OUT OF 32 (mind you this a global competition.) I’ll never ever forget this trip. 🤞🏾 THANK YOU: every producer, every judge, the BBM team, the people that donated to help me make this trip…love you all.
