Lunch at @thelunchladytoronto was perfection 🇻🇳 We began with the signature beef carpaccio (bò taí chanh), followed by the duck salad (goi vit) and lemongrass chicken (cơm gà nướng sả). The soft-shell crab (cua lột chiên giòn) was a highlight, as striking as it is delicious. Now, the star of the meal: bún riêu, a symphony of crab, fish, and gigantic prawns: an elevated classic served just one day a week, on Wednesdays. FIRST LOOK: We can see why the late Bourdain was a fan, because the new @thelunchladytoronto is EPIC! The good news is this most anticipated opening of the year is officially opened as of June 26th. 🍜 ✨ We got a first look and taste for the friends and family and DAYUMM did it blow our minds! We knew it was going to be good but it exceeded every expectation. Picture this, hip hop n’ rnb playing in the background, a warm inviting, open concept dining room, with tables, booths, bar seats, a small (10) and large (20 seats) private dining rooms and a clear look right into the kitchen. It’s got a tone of classic and authentic nods to Saigon, Vietnam with a modern contemporary twist. 152 seats total in the house—including several patio tables out front, that open things up from the street right into the dining room. The cocktails were well balanced, with some Vietnamese nods, and twists; but they also serve the classics, as well as beer and wine too. Think cold tea, without having to hide it in a tea pot (IYKYK). Must haves: The Wagyu Pho, the Prawn Fritters, the Bun Bo was a hit, but also the rice dishes that are served with a side bowl of rice topped with an egg that were surprisingly just the right amount of crispy (kudos to the kitchen!). The pork tomahawk was also definitely a huge hit but the Lemongrass chicken exceeded expectations. For desert we got to try the Vietnamese Tiramisu and it was amazing. Need to be back with an even bigger appetite! Needless to say, nothing on the menu would disappoint. It opens June 26! Get in while you can. This place is going to be a HOT SPOT (with no reservations) in no time. 🔥 Without a doubt, the beloved late Lunch Lady’s legacy lives on within these walls.
